Wa at the ABCTales had a reason to feel jealous when Jonathan Franzen's acclaimed novel "The Corrections" was selected for Oprah Winfrey's book club.

But Franzen has earned an even rarer distinction: He is the first author to be uninvited to appear on her show.

Would any of us dare to tell Oprah that she has a tendency to pick schmaltzy and one-dimensional books?
