I just read this newly posted story and highly recommend it. This is one of the most effective pieces I've seen on the site. I frankly think the title does a disservice to the piece, but otherwise, it is magnificent. The writing reminds me a little of Bukowski, a little of Fante, even a little of Ellroy in terms of style only. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Definitely agree with this. Jesse is an excellent writer whose name is not bandied about enough. This piece is really worth a read, as is all his work. I, personally, haven't read Jesse's work for quite some time now, and taking a brief look I see he's posted a lot more on the site. We've conversed a lot by private e-mail because we both worked the same areas of South-Central L.A., and I'm going to make a serious effort this week to catch up on his new postings. I urge all to do the same.
