Any answers?

Hi all, I began posting my poetry on this site a couple of years ago and am thrilled to see how the site has grown and blossomed. However I am really out of touch with how it all works. When I posted my work feeling all shy and self-deprecating about it I was completely shocked when about 75% of my work was "cherry-picked" by the editors. I understand that this appraisal service has altered. How can I ask for more feedback on my work?
Also I plan to compile a collection for possible publication. How many poems on average are needed? How many should be sent to a publisher/editor? And are there any concise or recommended lists of willing recipients?I strongly feel that my poetry is not the "read aloud" kind as its pretty obtuse and emotional and not easy listening. How viable is it for me to progress without following the trad public reading thing?

Does anyone who cherry picked my work all those many moons ago want to advise me? Be most grateful. Cheers. Megan
