The History of Love

Nicole Krauss's book is a delight! Try it!

It's a story about love and death but don't let that put you off. It reminded me of Saul Bellow's work in its jewishness and the things that might annoy - not always being sure who is talking for example - made it all worthwhile in the end.

If you've been told that a story has to be told in a fixed way, that the characters have to be written in such a way then this book will have you cheering because it proves those rules can be broken. It is both funny and heart-breakingly sad but a true pleasure to read nevertheless.
