ending on a wrong note with an apology by Queen Elf

i didn't read this before the footnote was added - but i think the poem is powerful because of its bitterness at life - haven't we all felt like this.

I think it also raises the issue about growing old in a society dominated by youth culture. To be old is to be seen as useless. And though i am only 35 - even i am considered over the hill by some.

the footnote of course adds a wonderful insight into the narrators mind at the time of writing and adds to the powerful, raw piece.

ty for not deleting it.

Juliet

I read it before the footnote and I thought it made its point very well and needed no apology.
You recovered, that's point. Yes we all have bad days and we all feel sorry for ourselves sometimes but it doesn't last if you have the people you love and those who love you around you. To be able to express those feelings and strike a note of recognition in those who read what you write is a great priviledge, you have excercised that priviledgre and drawn attention to a subject that will be debated more and more as the average age of the population rises...as it must. Oh yes and just for the record I don't subscribe the view that all the young are disrepectful to those who older. Most of those I have met have been far more intelligent than that. Those who weren't won't amount to a row of beans anyway so why worry about them. I think it was a good piece even if it was bloody miserable, no aploogy was necessary.
Many thanks for the comments, Juliet, Mykle and Jingle. I thought it was maybe too OTT, I'd had a rotten day & just let those feeling out. For the record, I'm 54 and sometimes I feel 154! LOL. And, yes, Jingle, not all youngsters are that bad, unless they tip my shopping trolley over. *Grin* Lisa.
