"To parent" is a verb… right?

In that we talk of "parenting"…

But…

I can't for the life of me recall whether I've ever heard anyone say…

I have parented!

…??

Pepsoid, You remind me of the classic(read ancient) way that we learned Latin. I parent I have parented I will be parenting It is common parlance these days to make verbs out of nouns.Is it proper? Who can say? When popular usage forces the issue, the included phrase becomes part of the mainstream language, whether purists approve or not. You have only to reflect upon the "word that won world war II" to see how many uses a common anglo saxon term can be put to. Good food for thought. J.X.M
