ARGH POP UP!!!
There is a dreadful pop up on ABC at the moment...cant the powers that be do something about it? I do realise that the advertising goes through a third party etc....but this particular one is really really annoying - if you are doing anything else on your PC at the time, it halts your typing and so on....which you dont realise until you look up and see that nothing is happening, because of a bleeding car rescue ad..or whatever it is. Pop Ups l can cope with, when they dont interfere with anything else, and dont pop up on every page!! Argh!!
It makes me less likely to respond to the ad, rather than take a look..

YES Liana I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.
It is to say the least annoying BIG TIME, coz it keeps comming back. when you zap it.
And just when you think its safe, its back.
its here now lurking, just waiting for its chance.

Totally agree with Liana on this!! It places itself centre stage and cuts of what you're doing - as a consequence, I don't even know what it's advertising - it makes me NOT want to look at it - so therefore the ad is pointless!!!

Well, judging from this and the mails I've got, they had to go so I've changed the preferences in our third party ad management system to exclude pop-ups. I'm pretty sure that the changes are put into action immediately, so that should be the end of them.

Yes, sorry to say but it is still here! I thought I was clever by placing the pop up on my task bar and then I could look at abc pages without being troubled by it. But imagine my annoyance when I noticed that it disappears from my task bar for a while and then pops up again!! Think I need to go to some anger management classes now.

That's really odd - it's not showing up on my machine at all. I'll have another look through the ad management package. If it turns out it's a bug at their end (possible) I'll phone them up and shout at them a lot first thing on Monday. I'll try to fix it now.

OK, I've given it another go - can someone reload the site and let me know if it appears? I'm going in through AOL and it's assuming I'm from the US so not showing me the offending ad as it's targeted at UK users.

I'm really mystified by this phenomenon as I have never had a pop-up at all and I've been on the site more or less from the beginning! Exactly where and when do these things appear?

It was cropping up all the time on all the pages... What a shame you missed it. .. Did you really want to buy breakdown service?.. It's unlikely to reappear for another 72 years. You'll need a pair of dark glasses (perferably filled with Guinness) to view it.
