Bruce Robinson
Having read 'Thomas Penman', and being a devotee of 'Withnail and I', I couldn't resist the new book 'Smoking in Bed - Conversations with Bruce Robinson' - and it is excellent. Buy yourself an early Christmas present everyone!
It's full of useful thoughts for writers - particularly the section on 'Fat Man and Little Boy'.
Another truly great book for writers is 'Adventures in THe Screentrade' by William Goldman.
Both of the above are about screen writing, but, trust me, they are useful to all writers of fiction!

bruce robinson kicks ass (rated pg)!
"what f*cker said that?"
Bruce Robinson will you please stop kicking me...
I am so glad that everyone is raving about Bruce Robinson again. One of the truly great writers of the last 20 years. 'Smoking in Bed' is indeed a great book about writing and the writers life.
There is a great short story titled 'Paronia in the Laundrette' which is still availible.

Reading "smoking..." and need to read Robinson's original screenplays or any of his writings.
Any information would be helpful.

PS
I too love the hard copy Thesaurus for the same reason.
It is a terrible moment in a young man's life when he wakes up one morning and realises, he will never play, 'The Dane'
Monty, you terrible C**T!
Just got the DVD of Withnail. Watched it last night. Thomas Penman is excellent.
