What’s the possibility of a mixture of chance and choice and pre-determination? Genetics might determine some things and pre-dispose others but chance must play a part and, since you can choose to take a chance then, necessarily, choosing must play a part too. An accident at any time in your development could cause drastic changes but to some extent you could choose how you react to those changes - earlier choices of religion and philosophy would also make a difference - but you might be also be genetically pre-disposed to react in a certain way. Perhaps the body is largely pre-determined : the mind is mostly subject to chance : the spirit is the will to choose.
