Mood Music?
I wonder if other people find that listening to nostalgic music brings a craving for the state of mind in which you used to listen to it.
These artists usually, although by no means always, elicit thoughts of -
Songs Of Kristofferson - Booze
Floyd & Moody Blues - Resin
Iron Butterfly - Grass
Tangerine Dream - Ecstasy
Fever Tree - LSD
I suspect resin and grass are now used interchangeably. Of course I only ever drank booze honest officer ;-) Does anyone else have music to get ..... moody to?
blink 182 - make me feel frivolous and childish
AFI - make me feel alive and inspired
Nickleback - make me feel a bit depressed, actually
Lacuna Coil - make me feel mellow and dreamy
Jewel - same as Lacuna Coil, but also makes me feel kinda hopeful
Kosheen - make me feel languid and peaceful
Well Ari - I've never heard of anyone from your list except Jewel (on the Oprah Winfrey show). It seems I'm totally out of touch and explains why everyone disagrees about how Hollywood portrays America - I'll probally agree in a tear or two ;-) I probably mean a year or two.
Oasis - Vomit
Alright. I wos wondering how good is Bobby Zamora. I've heard people rave about him on this fantastic game!! I've picked him for my team and hopefully he'll come up with the goods! How many goals has he scored for you if you've got him on your side!
Cheers, footie_master
24 goals this season, decent player to have, and ppl should rave
Definately
Nirvana - Teenage Angst
80's - childhood when everything was perfect
To name but a few
The Beatles - longing
John Lennon - melancholy
La Wally (Opera) - passionate love
The Hoodoo Gurus - wildness (it's a long story he he)
Delius - motherhood (sweetness, sentimentality)
Hi Wolfgirl - I have to admit that I have never knowingly listened to any Delius (I expact I have as background music in films) - can you recommend some of his work for me to begin with?
Now this depends basically unpon what mood I'm already in or what mood a person wants to get me into
my list would go (but not in this order)
Dianh Ashington -- Mad about the boy .....
K D Lang -- constand craving....
Anastacia -- not that kind ....
Etta James -- I just want make love to you...
Otis Redding - - try a little tenderness ...
Dido - - don't think
the all seeing eye - - walk like a panther
and one real oldie that I can't stand the singer but the words are ..... I've only ever heard it sung by her which is a real shame .... Cilla Black ... CONVERSATION
boy are there so many songs and tunes the best where heard at Bishopstock .... The Blues
Hi all
I can't listen to Portishead's second album, as it reminds me of visits to the doctor for prozac...
Nine Inch Nails - destroy everything
Count Basie - coooollll....
Walk like a panther is a classic song.
At the moment I've got Jewel on, coz I'm hoping it will get me in a chilled-out, writing-ey mood. Before it was Soil, because I wanted something edgy to be annoyed with people to. (I'm not sure that sentence makes a whole lotta sense).
Mykle, I think it's tricky recommending a piece from Delius, because tastes are so very different. However, there is a lot of choice: orchestral, concerto, chamber, choral, opera....you name it, it's available. Perhaps though, you could try 'On Hearing The First Cuckoo In Spring'. I feel so intensely when I listen to it...let me know how you react to it...
It is beautiful music to write to because it doesn't intrude. It's also very calming so next time you feel that savage breast coming on, put on Delius to soothe you.
ps He also had a fascinating and disturbing life, which is well worth reading about.....
The Corrs - corr...
Thanks Wolfgirl - I will get back to you - I'm really looking forward to listening to Delius now.
I just checked in Encarta to find out more about Delius and I found out he was born quite near me - less than 20 miles - in Bradford. I though he was German for some reason and I'm absolutely amazed that I haven't heard anything about him as a Yorkshire composer. Thanks again Wolfie.
I find cuckoos very intrusive.
