A wolf in Jamaica

On Monday I fly out to the Caribbean (I won it in a writing competition so it's all FREE!). I worry though. Do you think wolves and Jamaica go together? I mean, we are all furry and lopey...all that heat...

I know that on a previous thread, there were a few negative comments flung around about competitions...the usual 'Oh, I never win anything' etc. The competition I enterered was some relatively obscure and specialist one about ecotourism. There are many people on this site with talent and the ability to storm the judges of various comps with their unique voices.
(I said Storm, if a certain person also reluctant to get his work out there heard me).

There are also many comps on the net and a small play of words can earn you a great deal. In my local paper (Maidenhead Advertiser) there is a comp running to rename a local hotel. The prize? No, not a pen or a Reader's Digest subscription, but a luxury holiday to Dubai. A few minutes can net you some bloody nice rewards.

I am going to pack my fur and a few bones. I'd like to see a really positive way of looking at competition when I return....I rate a great deal of people on this site and I would like to see them have a few bonuses.

ABC's competition? Let's really give the judges some amazing pieces of work to judge.

Now what was I saying? Oh yes, what does a wolf do in Jamaica. Has anyone been? Any tips?

Like to add my congrats Wolfie, I have long standing friends from Jamaica always wanted to go but wanting and doing are two diffident things for me now, have lots of photos of the place which looks fantastic so don't think you can fail to have a great time. Long time ago now I used to enter lots of writing competitions and won a few nothing like Jamaica though, don't seem to have it in me any more, something like starting things to late in life, some would say I am just looking for excuse's but I don't think so as that fire and enthusiasm as left me long ago but oh how I enjoyed it all at the time and would sit for hours on my word processer tapping away. Happy Days... PS. Enjoy every moment and don't *miss a thing* Good luck.

Wolfie wins a holiday, Ralph gets a job. Good news comes in threes they say. Who's next?

Hope its me Hox, selfish I know but not altogether as I'm always, like everybody maybe, hoping to win the lotto as I would love to pay off my son-in-laws morage as he fell out of work just after xmas through no fault of his own and not!! for the want of trying hasn't found work yet with 4 kids to support, then there is my elder sons business which always seems to be in the red no matter how hard he works, then last but not least is all the under privileged kids all over world and after that mybe a very small sum left for myself and friends. My dreams would be forfilled...

Jamaica: No Problem Man! You'll hear that a lot. You'll see it a lot as well, T-shirts, you know. I know: You can interview all the former members of the Jamiacan bobsled team, see what they're up to now. Just don't accept offers to ride into the hills to get some cheap ganga from the source. They find your corpse some day, I guess. Another idea: research "female romance tourism" while you're there. There are evidently quite a few white women from the U.S. and Canada who go to the Carribean to have flings with the local male talent. Of course, I'm suggesting you do this research by interviewing people, not by participating yourself. :))))

Yes, Pierre is going too but the daft bugger wants to pack a wool suit (??) and pairs of jeans. I have told him that it is hot but he is too stubborn to listen. Umm....very interesting idea from Justyn. There are also a few other places to investigate, namely Rose Hall where a woman murdered several of her husbands and a couple of lovers. Also, on a gentler note, there is a Hummingbird sanctuary where you can feed the fluttery little critters with bottles of sugared water. Rum? I can honestly say that I've never tried it. I believe that underneath his white exterior, Pierre is actually Jamaican. He's so laid back that he keeps opening his suitcase and expecting it to be filled (by poltegeists perhaps?). He leaves everything to the last minute whereas I am tremendously pre-arranged. Ho Ho. But then, I get all the stress and the hair-pulling, while he whistles in a corner. I hope that ABC's good luck extends to more than three and I hope that your son-in-law gets a break soon, Jay. Bon Voyage. I will be soon be howling at a Caribbean moon.

You will be offered illegal weed and Red Stripe Beer in Jamaica mon. Just be selective and enjoy a great culture and great people. Try to see Dunn's River Falls and walk to the top, with a guide and shoes on your feet. I'm envious Tom
