Michael Jackson Paranoia
The do-gooders are at it again. This time they want jackson banned from entering the country on the grounds that he's been charged with heinous crimes (yet again). It sems to me he's not been found guilty of anything so far so how can anyone call for his barring? It's crap, nothing but sensationalist xenophobia. I'll bet most of these people were among those that were against the Iraqi war. They suddenly become VERY defensive when the alleged threat is on their doorsteps.
?!?
The only connection between anti-war protestors and the people who don't want to let Michael Jackson into the country is *you* not agreeing with them!
On the other hand:
"I'll bet most of these people were among those that were against the Iraqi war."
That would be a statistical probability if you took *any* random sample of people from the country!
As for being inconsistent, Missi - normally with likely-paedos (let's face it - no one is going to be surprised if he *is* found guilty,) you're up in arms. You're blatantly only defending him because he's a pop star.
i bet you wouldnt be allowed into the jolly old united states if you had some charges alleged of any criminal sort ...
George, that is a deliberate wind up.
And a good one I feel.
Merry Christmas you old devil.
Ralph
Jon, you're wrong on this, but then you probably won't want to see that. Secondly, I'm not 'up in arms' or anything remotely resembling it. Thirdly, I'm not defending Jackson either, personally I think he's a fruitcake who should be sectioned. He isn't even a 'popstar' in my firmament. I was merely pointing out that there is no rational reason to exclude him! Larph is nearer the mark, I was hoping for a few bandwagon hoppers.
Great point, Fish.
It's highly unlikely the United States would reciprocate if an English guy who had been charged with - how many is it? Ten? - offences against young children sought permission to enter the country.
Unless, that is, he were a rich pop star who promised to create a fresh revenue stream for certain businesses .
I'll disagree with you here, George. He is a pop star. Pop music is such crap, bubblegum, tenny-bopper type music that it's style suits him down to the ground.
However, while I don't believe he should be allowed off the plane at Heathrow, I'll reserve judgment on his "crimes" until he's tried.
Well this isn't the USA. Since when did we make our law by way of reciprocity? By refusing him entry you are inferring he is guilty and that is not right or fair. At this point in time he hasn't committed any 'crimes'. The whole bloody thing smacks of McCarthyism to me.
In the spirit of winding up, I would like to add that McCarthy was half-right, though only by accident. There were defintely Communists in the State Department. Unfortunately, he never found any because he never actually looked for them.
I'm not so sure, George. People are often granted bail under certain conditions. Even if he is allowed to leave the country, I hope that he's not to be allowed around children until proven innocent.
This may seem a tad Draconian, but just take a look at how many times Huntley was accused of child abuse in the past but it was either found that there was no case to prove or the youngsters chose not to give evidence. He was then allowed to work around children and we all know the story from there.
I won't judge MJ until after the trial, but if he were living next door to me I'd keep a close eye on him.
Firstly Karl, he ISN'T Huntley and secondly being who he IS, he won't be able to fart without someone watching and it being in the press. On the other hand if he lived next door to you I wouldn't blame you for being alert, but I'd want to know how either, you became so rich, or he became so reduced.
The sad thing is. That if he is innocent then he will forever will be tarnished.
I disagree with Karl about pop music. Sometimes it can be wonderful. Jackson's single 'Dont Stop Till you Get Enough' is one of the greatest pop songs ever recorded.
If he is guilty (possibly, but this is a Hollywood drama, so the bullshit factor has gone off the scale) then that is a diffrent matter, but in America, fame talks and he may still come out the whole thing smelling of roses.
Uri Geller, once a loyal friend of Jackson's (who myself and Lizzie had the pleasure of meeting at his house recently) has totally disowned him, which maybe a clue to where this whole thing is going.
Its a circus.
ralph
Maybe jackson was one spoon he couldn't bend
Boom Boom! But maybe not that far from the truth. Uri did have some influence over Jackson though. He got Micheal to play a benifit concert for Exceter City Football Club which was bizarre by any standards.
ralph
Oh! You know Urine Geller! How wonderful.
Dont really know him at all, I was just along for the ride. He has an amazing house though. Lizzie knows him quite well because he does a bit of charity work for her. He did a painting for her 'Art4All' event held in Hoxton in October, it raised thousands for children who have severe learning difficulties. Geller used to study with Dali many years ago and is a very good artist indeed.
Seemed a decent bloke but what do I know.
Cheers
Ralph
Actually Ralph, Jackson disowned Geller because he 'brokered' the Martin Basheer interview that went so horribly wrong. Anyone else who saw the Louis Teroux doc will remember him after the event saying he hopes one day that Michael will talk to him again and answer his calls. Then a few minutes later he was saying he wouldn't like his kids to be with MJ. (hmmm..Bitter anyone?)
Geller got his wallet nicked during the summer I worked at Gordano Services just outside Bristol. He went ballistic. We were pissing ourselves. He didn't see that one coming!
*puts hand on brow, concentrates* Wait, wait... I'm getting something. I'm picking up the vibrations of your credit card... It's down Asda checkout in Cribbs Causeway, paying for two hundred quid worth of phone cards.
Cheers Ely, you are better informed on this one.
