A Canadian TV worker has been sacked after a brand new episode of sci-fi series Doctor Who was leaked onto the internet. The 45-minute episode, entitled "Rose," appeared on the web on March 7, three weeks before the series was due to premiere on British TV channel BBC One. BBC Worldwide claim its broadcast partner in Canada, the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), harbored the culprit who had access to an preview copy of the eagerly awaited first episode. BBC bosses remain tightlipped about the identity of the individual to blame, but revealed that the person worked for a "third-party company in Canada". BBC Worldwide, which is taking legal action, released the following statement: "After a thorough investigation by BBC Worldwide's Canadian broadcast partner, the source of the leak of episode one of the new Doctor Who series has been traced to a third party company in Canada which had an early preview copy for legitimate purposes. The individual responsible for the leak has had their employment terminated by that company as a result. BBC Worldwide is considering further legal remedies and takes extremely seriously any unlawful copying or misuse of its copyright material."

I wasnt "not nice" either - just voicing my opinion. I simply consider for you to keep on mentioning how crap something is when you havent even SEEN it, to be a tad daft.
*smiley happy thing*
Apparently Christopher Eccleston is only going to do the one series of Dr. Who, he says he is leaving. This is because he doesn't want to have the stigma of people associating him with Dr. Who for the rest of his acting career.
I wasn't aware that this was the "only nice things about Dr. Who" discussion. I consider all of television to be crap. It's not that important that I need a confrontation over it. Enjoy your popcorn.
*clicking beer mug thing*
The Dr's ability to walk through the really fast fan blades made the sacrifice by the young tree person totally meaningless. Sure it stressed him a bit but if he could do it on the fast ones he did not need help when it was slower so she did not have to burn up. Also why use your hands to hold the lever down, why not a shoe or piece of clothing, or use the screwdriver to weld it into the down position. Sloppy/bad writing at that point. Otherwise pretty amusing.
RadioRedneck, tell you what how about a bumper compilation of the best of 'The Dukes of Hazzard,' episodes to keep you entertained instead then me ol mate?
To be fair the Star Trek sequel series (not including Startrek: Enterprise) all contained some superb storylines, great characters and very good special effects and Babylon 5 was fabulous. America does do great science fiction but it tends to lack the eccentricity of Dr Who and the comedy of Red Dwarf.
Mind you, Soap came close.
I liked that episode much more, too. It's very different to previous series, isn't it? They must be getting help with the budget. Was worried was going to be a rip off of Restaurant at the End of the Universe, but went another way, which was good
What about Jimi Mistry as the next Dr?
Yep, both episodes have been brilliant, but the second one especially so. Tainted Love was inspired as Liana says. And doesn't it make a change for a show not to be about doctors or cops.
Let's hope this is the beginning of more British sci-fi. And anything that is a bit different.
btw Hitchhikers is back on the radio at the beginning of May and the film is also out soon.
Star trek using the same plot and practically the same script for every episode became a running joke between me and my husband. I'd walk in the room, he was watching it.
"Oh!" I'd say. "Have you not seen this episode before?"
"No..." he'd say, knowing what was coming next.
"How can you tell?"
I was talking about the sequels, Liana, especially STTNG.
However Star Trek set the scene for films like Star Wars making aliens seem less menacing and space more accessable.
I do hazily recall an old science fantasy story with a lizard character who had a double appendage in his nether regions making him very popular with human women... those were the days when I read books.
Probably had a long reptilian like tongue too.
Lizards certainly seem to get around but they always seem to have just split up with their girlfriends and you can hear the lovely lasses complaining "The lousy lizard, slimy toad..."
