Sir John Mills is dead
He was 97 yrs old when he passed away.
R.I.P Sir John, you were a goodun.
The way he drank that lager in 'Ice-Cold in Alex' (1958) will never be forgotten. A great character actor, human, and, to this cynical atheist, what a damn good life he led.
Was Crispian Mills his grandson, or son? You know, the bloke out of Kula Shaker who sang about how you've never seen anything in the world till you've seen the sun set over the Taj Mahal sipping on a bong man.
Bloody rich kids.
Grandson, daughter of hayley.
This is how self-absorbed I can be - I somehow feel that John Mills' death has something to do with me as I was named after his daughter and his daughter was the first recorded 'Hayley' as a first name. Hayley was John Mills' wife's mother's maiden name (geddit?) and that's why they called their blond blue-eyed sprog that.
What I want to know is why my parents thought a showbiz brat was a good role model??
Also did you know the role of Kubrick's Lolita was offered to Hayley Mills but Sir John didn't think it suitable.
So, so long Sir John. I sort of feel we were related, but I guess we weren't were we?
He was superb in the BBC's adaption of Martin Chuzzlewit as the confused old bloke who watches over Jonas' father and sees more than he should - wish I could remember the name of the part.
r.i.p sir mills.does anyone else remember the quatermass experiment or did i dream it?
he's an English actor who was loved by many and had a face you couldn't help feel sorry for and he's died at the grand old age of 97 having acted for most of his adult life. God bless 'im.
