The Mmm Girl by Tara Hanks

I've read this through quite quickly - I'll give it a more thorough read later.
I'm intrigued.
I like the style, and the dialogue is good, and the narrative pulls me along.
The only thing I felt was missing - and I'm sorry if this sounds crass - was Marilyn. She's speaks, she does things, she conveys information - but there's no psychological presence. She says how she reacts to things - like hearing about Clark Gable's death - but it's as if she's at one remove.
Is this deliberate? Is it meant to be like that so that we get the impression of a woman not really living in her mind at all?

Hi Alan, thanks for your comments. I think that at this point in her life, yes Marilyn was somewhat removed from everything that was going on around her. Obviously you can't get the full picture from just one chapter. But this is still a work in progress and may need more detail - I'll bear in mind what you said.
