Greatest Hits
So it's late. I've had a drink. I was impressed to find that the 'Last Post' to two of the Forums both clocked in at 01-17,
though two days apart. This post ruins that statistic.
Anyway, my LAST THOUGHT before going tatas is - which thread has had the most replies on ABC?
I suspect this is a job for Missi...
I believe you'd lose your cash Martin.
i bet it's liana ...
errr.........Larph?
not me....
You want me to work on my birthday? I'll check my archive after I've done my Sunday visiting. (It's what separates one week from another for me!)
I reckon its still the smacking thread... didnt it hit (hur hur) 200 posts?
Happy Birthday Missi
x
Wishing you a happy birthday, Missi - and at least a few more...
Happy Birthday George,
lang may yer lumb reek
George, of course I wouldn't expect you to work on your birthday. Put your feet up and have a relaxing day. All the Best!
Happy birthday...worst photographer in the world... the longest thread i took part in was the worst opening line of a novel thread.. but then i would say that wouldn't I.
Happy b'day Missus :-)
Trawling back through the old stuff, "Virtual Party" got 204.
Something to do with potatoes managed a creditable 86.
ooh yes neil, that was my birthday party.. maybe we should have another in honour of missi?
we could have a "restricted topics of conversation" party, say "the royal family" and "religion"
what do you think Missi?
wasn't there a word association thread which went way beyond 200....
*feels sad that he remembers such a useless fact*
Haven't been on here for a while but I am so glad I have
just this minute switched on to be able to say "Happy
Birthday to you my Darling George" late I know but better
late than never, hope the day went more than well with
more to come in the future...
Love
xxx
Thanks for the birthday greetings guys and gals.
I've had a trawl through my archives for high scoring threads and it's led me to make changes to my filing system.
I don't actually save every thread, just those that are of interest to me plus anything controversial (which means much the same thing in reality). I DO have close to 800 threads saved however, but have realised that although I have no trouble searching them, it has been a bit difficult and time consuming to check them on the site. I believe I'm right in saying that all threads are still available for viewing (except for a few that were removed by the damagement as being offensive, I do however have those too somewhere). The problem I have is the sheer quantity of posts that have been made over the lifetime of the forums. My filing system works something like this. I reduce the file name to the basic, i.e. I remove the forum name etc. I then add 2 spaces and a number that corresponds to the number of posts on that thread. I then save it as a text file, as that reduces the file size enormously as opposed to a web page. I re-save threads periodocally as they grow, until they die out and I have a final complete thread. As the threads are updated I delete previous versions.
The problem occurs when trying to locate them on the site so from now on I shall add the 'f' , 'i' and 't' numbers which will enable me to go straight to the correct page.
Now the explanation is over I can tell you that the highest scoring thread I have saved is;
'Smacking Children' from May of last year with 206 posts, it can be viewed by changing the 'f' no to 2 and the 'i' and 't' nos to 34521.
I also have 'Cheese and wine party for newcomers' from Feb 2002 with 190 posts and ABCDID with 171 posts.
There are obviously others that I didn't save for whatever reason, but I've no doubt a far worthier anorak than I, will do the necessary excavating.
Much more importantly, I am beating Ralph hands down for the number of New Topics that have garnered absolutely no responses.
And Missi, I can see you as a librarian/archivist, with wire-framed specs and your hair up in a bun.
Happy belated BIrthday Missi! Thought Id wait till all the fuss died down.
Thanks Freda.
My dear Gardenia your problem stems from your ability to leave everyone gob-smacked!
Which brings me to your second comment. If you have the temerity to show you grey-hair crowned phiz on the 13th, I shall entreat Larph to smack yer gob!
how about most prolific poster....? my money is on missi....
