Thought it was crap at first... now I really like it. It's grown on me a lot.
But *why* do women fancy Mac? He's a prick! Got into an argument with my gf over it... Maybe it's because I empathise with Dr Secratan so much. I see him as being just like me.
I watched the first episode but no more. Why do they keep fast forwarding it - if they don't think it's any good why not just fast forward the whole thing and get it over with in ten minutes instead of an hour?
Self-consciously hip and tragically unfunny. Bring back The Likely Lads, or Spaced, or Little and Large. At least THEY were funny!
Well, I didn' really get it when I watched the first episode, but BF kept saying it was pretty funny, so I watched it again and it has grown on me. There was something 'familiar' about it, -and I subsequently read somewhere, that it was produced from the same stable as Smack The Pony, which I loved. If you've only seen the first episode I would give it a second chance.
I watched the first, and yes, it was shit.
I'm always disinclined to keep at things in case they get better (unless its books) but I might give this another go then...
The first episode is surely a taste of what's to come. It didn't make me want to watch any more. What's with the fast-forwarding? It's a tired gimmick. And it's too long for a sitcom - I'm far too busy on a Friday night to watch that for an hour!!
OK I'll watch it. There's no need to be rash, Flashmaster.
Please stop this unholy cremation now!
And can you send me the picture of Jo first class- many thanks.
GW is superb!
the FF thing seems normal after a while and has proven useful on several occasions letely so they're using it.
I want to kill the 'indian' in the ad breaks who goes around in a mini pissing people off but he's not part of the programme.
ALSO:
Arrested Development.
absolutely excellent and it's AMERICAN!!! not cheesy but more like the office for americans in its style (semi docu style). Very funny stuff.
Mac is not my cup of tea at all so don't care who he snogged, but am in similar snog-waiting for position myself so it's good that they got together, will take it as a sign...:-) although am feeling much like Joanna usually looks to be honest...
Sorry I missed it now...Joanna must have been 9 when she had him.
yep like green wing too - apart from news and football about the only tv show i make a regular 'date' with - have to video it tho - too long to take it an one go pour moi
also can't stand da stupid mini ha ha not -
I think green wing is the best thing on TV atm. It really rocks, although i cant see why everyone likes Mac so much. If you continued wathcing it, theyve toned down the whole FF thing since about episode 3, it really rocks and that last episode kicked asss, i mean 'cliffhanger' or what...
I found the ending really disturbing. I think I identify too strongly with Dr Secratan. I couldn't get to sleep last night for thinking about it.
He's the *best* one! Why would the writers stitch him up like that?
Jeffy you wrote that Little and Large were funny
Syd little, Eddie Large and funny are three words that should not exist in the same sentence...not in this Universe anyway.
*Draws black moustache and funny nose glasses combo on Jo Meara picture*
Stop! In the name of S Club!
Eddie Large impersonating Tina Turner was one of the funniest things ever in 1984. You know you laughed along with the rest of the nation, Flashmaster (34 million viewers on average for their Saturday tea-time show).
yes jeff, but the best selling newspaper is the sun, and the best selling shade of tights is still american tan.
Just because lots of people like it, doesnt mean its any good.
'Am I turning into you Flash?'
Liana what a horrendous thought!! A 41 year old flabby male with a crap sense of humour, i should hope not you poor thing.
No, no don't worry liana i saw your last Derby piccy...i would say... you're more like turning into the butch warden out of prisoner cell block H if anybody.
Hope that puts your mind at ease.
*Cuts off piccy of jo meara and sticks it on a lovey heart postcard with the boys from McFly.*
I was kidding of course.
alas, 'tis true flashy... in fact her and me are joined by genes... way back, our mutual ancestor was deported to australia from corby england, for the crime of knifing fat sarky midlanders...
'but Mac and Caroline ended up snogging so it's all right really...'
NO!!! It's not! Mac's just a snide wally! The two girls I live with (abctalers Beef and Megs) think he's dreamy... Do you know how many arguments it causes? Every time one of them slags off Guy I feel like they're having a go at me.
*takes deep breath*
I think this is what being unemployed does to you...
yes liana. martin clunes. clones. clines. clenes or clanes. isn't in it.
however. the bloke from the office is in it. and the bloke from black books too, but they've got tiny cameo roles.
yeah green wing is superb. you have to switch off your gag-mindset and absorb the rhythms and pyschodrama of it. it's not jasper carrott and it's not martin clunes. it's a little chris morris and a lot scrubs. i never miss it.
Green Wing makes my cry with laughter! The personnel woman pretending to be a Nazi from a film was hilarious, and as for the whole episode of the party - I have a sneaking suspicion they took their inspiration from several parties I've been to! The fast-forwarding is countered by slowing down in places, too. Don't ask me why, but for some reason I find it works - it suits the tone of the programme. I thought the first episode went on a bit too long, and wasn't really all that funny, but all episodes since then have been hysterical. There isn't much on TV that I will say good things about, but this is definitely one of the best comedies I've ever seen.
Green Wing - fabulous! It definitely grew on me after the first epsiode. Such a shame the series has finished - I will be wating for it to come out on DVD and I hope they do commission a second series.
Mac - is LOVELY - he grew on me too!!
I'm pretty sure that the girl who played David Brent's lodger in the first series of 'the Office,' is in it, and also the bloke who played her boyfriend is there too.
Some of the cast from 'Black Books, Coupling and Alan Partridge are also cast.
No Martin Clowns though..........yet.
Rearly in two minds about Guy (By the way Joanna had him at 15 and if she is 40, as she says she is, that that would make him 35)and Mac.
Mac in the begining (BTW i have only seen episodes 2 and 8 fully, taped em!and parts of other episodes)was quite evil, however we had reason for why he was evil (His ex of 6 years aborted their baby because it "got in the way of her carear") and we see him change, i must admit I am a big BIG Dr Mac fan (although strangly i dont like JRT, Julian Rhind Tut (Spelling?) In any other roles)I like the fact that his charachter transforms throught and still he remains a funny charachter, and Guy, well I rearly did hate him at first, but then I realised that he must be fairly insecure in himself to act like that (Mabey I concentrate too deeply on this for a 14 year old) so I kind of pitty him now.
Green Wing is by far the best comedy series on (well on E4) at the moment, I cant get enough of it, it just gives you one or more lead charachter(s) you can identify with, for example, I identify with Caroline, especialy in that bit where she digs up the dirt on Emily, likewize i open my mouth and jump straight into stuff feet first, and to some extent Dr Alan. What apealed to me is that with Green Wing each characher is you and you are them (as I say I am probably rearding waaayy to deep into this for a 14 year old)
However Green Wing does take a bit of getting used too, I love the fast forwardy bits abd the slowy downy bits too, it made to agonising bits longer and the boring bits faster, however people I have talked too find them anoying, another thing is the list of charachters you have to get to know, for example Dr Todd, Dr Mac, Sue White, Boyce, Karen, Alan, Martin and Guy to name a few! So all in all I am obsessed, Can't wait for the dvd or book or next series (Won't be for a while as Michelle Gomez, who plays Sue White is pregnant)
Final Theroy of the post
Alan and Martin, father and son? They both share similar tendancys.
[%sig%]
Just wondered if you ABC old timers had put together Lisa Mangan(who used to work for us) and Stephen Mangan (who plays Dr Secretin) - he is her brother - and a big ABC fan!
I just loved it - sure, it took a while to get going, but once it did - it went!
I haven't seen this... we are out on Friday nights.
Yes, I know we have a video but we always seem to forget what we have taped and, before you know it, a week has passed and you have to find the tape so you can record episode two and even if you do find it you come home to find you have inadvertantly recorded Question Time or a channel 5 programme about penis extensions, whatever they are.
'Yes Rokkit but he's a pompous smug mug.......oh yes i see what you're getting at now!!!'
Hmm... I know it's not intended as a compliment, but... cheers anyway!
