dreams

Hi!
I've just joined abctales and have already submitted a peice of work named dreams. But I was wondering, I know the majority of the population have reoccuring dreams...but do we actually ever know what they mean and are significant of? Or do we need to read Freud's book of 'dream interpretation' to discover the answer?!
if someone has a moment to read my entry, coould they please tell me what they thinkit means? and please, don't say - destiny.

Thanks.
Karolina

Well, the obvious answer would be that you're having anxiety over children and marriage. All the symbols are there. A playground full of children, the smell of the cafeteria, the man staring at you from across the yard of children.... Your mind is repeating the image it's well used too, the thoughts you're having are producing the same dream... Don't have a clue about your personal life. Perhaps, you're single and without children. You're worried about it dragging on or something. or You're married with no children, you see your husband as something to do with this. He wants children, you don't vise-versa... Just guessing. or something to do with your childhood. Lots of reoccuring dreams date back to unresolved childhood issues. Freuds book doesn't give every answer and it's by no means the final word on this subject. What it does say is that every object in our dream represents something in our life. There are common objects with common meanings. It's been over 6 years since I've read it, but ill pull it out and see if I can dig further.

Denver's alive and well...well, not so well. I'm sick as a dog right now and thinking about as clearly as mud water. Don't worry about the 2 minutes of silence, my guess is most folks would welcome it! HA

Freuds book is massive and not going to give you all the answers. I'm into hypnogogic and hypnopomic things, I'll check your story out and give you some feedback if you like.

Karolina. Freud's approach was never intended to be used in that way. The whole point was that 'you - the dreamer', should come to 'self interpretation' Impulse, has a number of recurrences that my be significant -'To You', but not to any interpretation by others. How ever. There are a few things that stand out perhaps. Is brown a significant color for you. It appears to be in your dream. Is Holland Park a real part of your experiences, perhaps child hood mems. You seemed very specific about contextual representations. The Cafeteria, the tennis courts, the fountain and the children playing. Are these a part of your every day experiences in real life. If so, then this is just a natural process where the sub Conscious uses memory's of real things to construct 'props', are a stage for yore dream to be played out. If your physical stage is the reproduction of real things, like the Cafeteria, then you should avoid focusing on 'the sett' and try to focus on the 'actors'...like the boy, the children and your one part in your dream. In there, you may find your own interpretation of your dream. Good luck.. That will be £275 Pleces...

You didn't say... When you wake from your dream, are you happy, sad? What emotion does this dream evoke?

A long time ago dreams where seen as prohetical and societys decisions lingered on the 'chosen ones' dreams. You can take something from your dreams, anyway, hi and hope you work it all out...
