Story and Poem of the Month

Our Story and Poem of the Month for February, very kindly chosen by Marandina:
Well here we go again….another February gone!
The world is as bonkers as it was last year. Just look no further than our…erm…world leaders for proof of madness.
Anyway, it was a pleasure reading all the stories and poems posted last month.
In my subjective, flawed but ultimately honest opinion, the following were particularly noteworthy notwithstanding that lots of terrific work will be missed by a summary like this.
Poetry:
The following honourable mentions go to:
Ewan for ‘Last Week’s Oranges’
https://www.abctales.com/story/ewan/last-weeks-oranges
D G Moody for ‘Silences’
https://www.abctales.com/story/d-g-moody/silences
markashley for ‘Morning Commute’
https://www.abctales.com/story/markashley/morning-commute
and Turlough for ‘Arabesque’
https://www.abctales.com/story/turlough/arabesque
It was a close call between Turlough’s ‘Arabesque’ and my monthly pick but by a gnat’s whisker I went with:
Poem of the Month is Yutka’s ‘I’m alive’
https://www.abctales.com/story/yutka/i%E2%80%99m-alive
It’s a poem that traverses life and death in a way that moved me each time I read it.

Stories:
The following honourable mentions go to:
drew_gummerson’s ‘Minority Report’
https://www.abctales.com/story/drewgummerson/minority-report-part-1
mac_ashton’s ‘Just in Case’
https://www.abctales.com/story/macashton/just-case
Makis’s ‘Relatively Speaking’
https://www.abctales.com/story/makis/relatively-speaking
Jane Hyphen’s ‘His Running Top’
https://www.abctales.com/story/jane-hyphen/his-running-top
In a month where the standard of prose was incredibly high with so many writers hitting the heights, I finally decided on:
Story of the Month is ScoZen’s ‘Auntie Nessie’ – a magical piece of writing where fantasy becomes believable, at least for the time taken to read it.

Congratulations to everyone mentioned and a massive thank you to everyone that posted work in February.
Until next year…
