Story and Poem of the Month

Our Story and Poem of the Month for August, very kindly chosen by Jane Hyphen:

 

 

These are my choices for the month. So hard to choose! I could have mentioned more but you don't want a ramble so I've contained it as much as possible.

 

Once again, extremely difficult to choose in a month packed with quality and creativity.

 

I must mention Farzenah’s Song by Turlough, a loving, colourful tribute to a lost friend and a quality read.

My choice for Poem of the Month is Eclipsed by Makis, the breakdown of a relationship and how the connection withdraws in slices, the stark coldness left behind for a while, then new light returning and with it hope.

There have been some fabulous ongoing stories on this site. The Way We Heard: Something’s Gotten Hold of my Heart by airy fairy took me right back to being 15 and Love in the Time of Couriers by GlosKat resonated with so many of us as did A Fear of Porridge by Makis, for those of us who have worked in hospitality, the KP is an essential and often the most entertaining member of the team.

My August Story of the Month is The Les Miserables Keep a Secret (3) By SoulFire77, it’s part of a series. This part is a tale of resilience, of self-help, learning to look beyond tangible achievements and build on the more valuable, inner confidence and to take in your surroundings, swallow them whole and enrich your life with whatever it is you enjoy doing.

I know how many great stories you had to choose from for Pick of the Month. The Less Miserables would still be half-written in a drawer if not for the encouragement of all of the wonderful people here. You have put the lessons learned by this gang of misfits in front of countless people that I could have never otherwise reached. I appreciate everyone here more than you will ever know.
