The first time I saw George walk into an ABCTales gathering, I knew he was Mississippi.

I have some series bad news. Jude has blotted her copy book yet again. Not only did she get us banned from an earlier venue but this time she has really gone to town. Preston to be exact. No, actually the book-blotting is the result of leaving the pub stone cold sober. She has NEVER done this before and we're treatring it as a seasonal affective disorder. She tried to palm her sobriety off as her saving herself for a party later at her brothers in said town. I have to add that there was no excesses indulged in by anyone. What ARE these gatherings coming to?

George, if it makes you feel better - I thought you were a rock n roll star the first time I met you. I wasn't wrong.

If you want to picture Karl, Mississippi and Jude as Cowboys, imagine Paul Newman, Robert Redford, and Katharine Ross in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA [%sig%]

Really? How did you work that out, James? If I remember correctly it was at the Ember bar, and I had a bet with someone that I wouldn't give my identity away for at least half an hour. I also remember you had a wisp of a smile about your otherwise inscrutable face and didn't say much.

I'll bloody give you 'HAHAHAHAHAHA' you bastard. As it happens, a tiny coincidence here. That link I posted in order to prove the fallibility of your 'Monday' thread shows that Paul Newman and i share the same birthday. (I don't share his blue eyes, wealth and success with women.)

Sorry George, I'm still suffering the after effects of Stoke. Anyway, I had you down for the Robert Redford part.

Radio, check out the English slang term 'cowboy' and you'll then realise that they aren't going to Camden wearing cowboy clothing... although come to think of it ...

You're breaking my heart here. I had this image of English "dudes" all gussied up with their stetsons and boots and such. Giddie up old boy! Jolly Good grub.... The cowboys I work with would get a real kick out of this.

Okay, British Cowboy is a useless bodger. Now a bodger is somebody who makes green chair legs on a laithe. Somehow, I don't see this worthy having a party over, I think you should all dress up as Buffalo Bill and see who looks the most like a Buffalo hunter (never mind who smells most like one).

I know, it's a brilliant image isn't it? Sadly, they're more likely to be wearing cardigans.

Denver, 'Camden Cowboys' is a sobriquet bestowed upon us by Larph, in a fit of pique I seem to remember. He is actually a good role model for stephy as it happens, as he's managed to do what stephy keeps saying he'll do but never does. Larph, these days, is a well-behaved if infrequent poster. Though he has redeemed himself in the eyes of many I have to say he isn't nearly as much fun as he used to be. Perhaps none of us are. Ah, the good old days.

So, it's just another excuse for a night of booz'n and talk'n about the women you used to know? Around these parts that would be Tuesday's.

If anyone has seen the terrific series, "Deadwood" currently on Sky One, that's more the image I have of this get-together. A bunch of ill-dressed low-lifes who spend their time whoring and drinking and cannot string a sentence together without four f**ks and three c**ksu**ers in it. Lying, cheating murdering bastards who would slit their grannies throat for her ruby brooch. That's the image I have of the Camden Cowboys.

Oh yeah, and most of them are stoned on opium. Does Hox have any cowboy slippers?

Radio, You can find lots of pictures, many from previous Cowboy roundups, on my website: www.thymeworks.com Look in the ABCTales Rogues Gallery and you'll find about 100 or so pics from various venues.

And though I don't recall any opium snorting, we were asked to leave the Man in The Moon pub and never return, though in fairness that was not actually due to rowdiness. It had something to do with the hairdo sported by the publican's wife or some similarly obscure chain of events. (ahem)
