Just a suggestion¦

I found the opening a little stilted because of the scene setting details added around the dialogue. They made me stumble. Could you try paring the dialogue down to the bare essentials? It was very easy to get the gist of the situation with hardly any detail. I think if you assumed the reader was already 'in the know,' the dialogue would read more naturally. (It's only a two-handed conversation so I wouldn't have missed the, who says what to whom, bits either.)

It worked best for me, scene-setting wise, with the apologetic sign at the airport. Small visual point ' said a lot. I liked that.

Thanks greatly for the comment. You know, I used to begin my stories, especially in my thrillers, with as you suggest, two-handed conversations missing out who said which piece. However, a literary agent made me go back and fill them all in again! It's a bit hard to please everybody all of the time. What one person likes another person doesn't like, and so on. But thanks for the comments though. I'm glad you found things in it that you did like! pat My webpage is at: http://www.bookscape.co.uk
