A Little Toot on Liana's Brass Instrument
well ... she isn't going to boast about it herself but i feel very proud of her ... liana has got runner up in the Ottakers/Faber poem competition ...
so toot toot and pip pip and lots of other celebratory double sound type things ...
and a fitting bit of news for National Poetry Day when some poor Poets are being tortured by classes full of kids ...
congrats you baggage ....
Hooray ! Is that the one i told her about ? Is there a cash prize? Was it the very very wonderful poem called... damn, gone out of my head. the one about Serbian bread, anyway.
Well done Liana, you deserve it. And hello to the fishwife as well.
I am having to pay for this connection, as i am in London, an hour away from meeting the abc team, no doubt still hungover
well i bet it is the one you told her about ... and i bet there IS a cash prize ... and when you have met the ABC team be sure to tell us all what they are like in real life ...
it was the Unremarkable Death poem ... a stonker ... and she's not about so we can talk about her endlessly ... isn't she clever?
Oh, well done, Liana!
Hope you get loads an' loads of dosh and live a happy and prosperous life in the Bahamas (or wherever).
Keep us up-to-date, Fish (since L's too bashful, it seems)...
Bashful my arse......
Liana swanning round shops all day looking for suitably sized tiara.....offering autographs......shouting "I'm too good for this housewife stuff y' know" from the kitchen....
Help me, PLEASE!!
"bashful my arse"? ... i never realised liana was a touch on the pervy side ... *gasps*
dear husband ... escape quick!!!!!

Add my congrats to the list! Well deserved.
Just in from the Aberdeen Regional Faber/Ottakars prizegiving. Absolutely thrilled for you, Liana - totally deserved. I hope you have a little toot of your own tonight to celebrate. Talking of Brass leads me on to Brasso.
*polishes a certain pedestal which is now indisputable* (though many of us thought it was ever thus)

I also extend my congratulations, Liana. This is wonderful news! Awesome. I'm proud of you, Liana.
Congrats Liana - that's ace (and well deserved)
Also, congrats to Eddie Gibbons whose book 'Stations of the Heart' is published. More news to follow about that on the front page...

Good News Travels Fast, Liana.
Your Bohemian temperament is proving an asset rather than liability. Congratulations.
Jozef
Well deserved too conratulations always nice to see some one else do well. Good luck in the future......and yes i am green with envy just like everyone else CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
the winning poem was published in the papers today.
apparrently there were 8000 entries!
is your one going to be published anywhere liana? I've had a quick search of the web but google failed, for once, to find anything about the competition.
I have no idea Stormy - Ottakers have no info on their website either - I still dont know what the prize is - can't remember.
Andrew may know more about it, as he mailed me the details in the first place.
If you find it, let me know :o)
Why thank you Ivy.
