Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead
Was chatting to someone in the pub the other day and trying to remember the rules of the game of verbal tennis they played. Failed miserably. Anyone here got any ideas?
Is almost a whole day without a reply considered hesitation?
If so, wouldn't that be a turn-up for the books?
are you trying to have the last word on your own thread Emily?
Wouldn't someone need to announce that we'd started playing ?
Isn't that a fait accompli? Or am I flipping tails?
"Why may not imagination trace the noble dust of Alexander, till he find it stopping a bung-hole?"
Is she our lovely nunnery dubberley merely seeking her own salvation by having the last word?
Do you think it's an entirely fair way to judge hesitation? What if they have no internet access at weekends?
Are we in this game then not courting the rule of hesitation? How about deviation; couldn't we exchange the twain?
Is exchanging the twain of deviation rude or does it just sound like it should be?
why don't you just get on the game?
Roxanne, do you really have to put on the red name-game light?
shouldn't you be in bed dave?
Do you think we sisters should post in this old thread at least once a day in holy order to keep the luvverly dubberly's habit going?
Why MCA?
what's going on?
Is Jimmy back?
are you confused?
What are books?
Do books matter?
What is the matter?
Does it matter what the matter is?
Is it up to the mark?
Sorry Em, but you really have lost me this time! Please elucidate.
AJ :>?
I was just about to press the post button on my message about deviation when I realised that it could count as repetition which is against the rules isn't it?
As I've only just got out of bed after following the good advice of "morsty" or is it "stromy", am I really in a fit state- refreshed and ready to teach young minds how to write aliterative phrases and rhyming couplets-to play this strange and enduring game?
Possibly not Dave - you look like you have a classic case of classroom alliterative fatigue - but then, who am I to say?
Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead is a play (that I've never seen) and a film (that I can only reember - vaguely - this scene from) They play a game of verbal tennis that is a work of genius and made me laugh out loud - ie, they get points for scoring a verbal win (this is hard to explain at this time of night!) but I can't remember how you got a verbal win.
Or maybe I was just very very drunk and made this all up!
Isn't your opinion worth hearing on that point Stormy ?
Who is she that pens mightier than the sword, pipe and whistle?
Aren't all of our opinions important?
you weren't drunk, it was basically a game of tennis palyed with questions instead of volleys. you were only allowed to return the question with a question. you failed if you answered with; a statement, if you hesitated, or if you repeated something that had already been said in the exchange.
(god, how sad am i, i'll be telling you about a dead parrot next)
Is it time we put this thread out of it's misery?
Consider it unquestionably done!
why can't we all jut get along? there was no reason to say that was there? what am i on about?
does anyone know?
Did Betty Botter really buy that bit of better butter, on the other bitter bit?
If I think therefore am I?
In an attempt at an apology on behalf of my alter-login can I rephrase his lost and buried post to, "is it unquestionably done?" or am I forever banished from her burial chamber?
what is it with all these non-sequiters (gallic shrug) huh?
Have I been asleep for a whole week or is this thread part of my narcoleptic ravings and do I live about its middle and and at the base of its favours?
as a nark do I 'ave to squeal to keep this fred alive?
what is a non-sequiter?
didn't bart hezbullock resemble a baby in a nappy when he pulled his shorts up in a kind of alliterative frisson of french frenzied frustration?
am I too late?
Could this game be played online? wouldn't it be a bit difficult to tell if someone hesitated?
Why is Robbie Fowler going to Leeds for a mere 11 million?
who cares about football?
Eddie - the question is, why didn't Arsenal buy him instead of Franny Jeffers ?
Are we going to give this verbal tennis game thing a try then ?
(And Em - aren't you supposed to be avoiding computers for a week?)
Yes, but she don't want to replace them with footie, does she?
Are we still allowed to play that red email link to message coded thingy, in this post-dogspound era?
Anyone seen mon secateurs as Ophelia's rosemary bush needs trimming?
Nope, but I have these shears that I use on my neighbours bush if they are of any use cobbler?
does anyone check back here anymore?
are the three posters now down to one?
or should I say 2 since DA was technically disqualified by emily's subtle ruse?
or are we all imp posters?
am I disqualified by posting 5 questions in one go?
am I digging my own grave here diggus?
as a teacher shouldn't you be marking books at 00.28am?
Where's the anonymous woman who shaved it off for a bet? Why should I care?
Are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern dead?
Is there anyone out there?
