eeek what is this???

i have had two emails returned to me that i never sent ...

the message says:

This message has been rejected because it has
an apparently executable attachment IHeight.scr
This is a virus prevention measure.
If you meant to send this file then please
package it up as a zip file and resend it.

what on earth does this mean???

should i worry??

In theory it might mean that your machine has a virus that is sending emails all by itself with IHeight.scr as an attachment, which presumably is the virus that infects someone else's computer with the same thing. You should run a virus scan of your computer, but download the latest virus definitions first.

you can get a free check at www.symantec.com but it will take about an hour depending on connection speed and you have to download a couple of small programs. oh, and I think you have to leave your computer alone while it is running the check. worth doing ... I did it myself the other week when I received what I thought might be an infected email. sure enough the scan discovered it was the latest klez variant. thankfully I didn't open it so my system is still clean. it might not be a virus. they usually send out to all addresses in your address book. I have not received anything from you. of course, you could be using a different account that does not have my addy in I suppose. whatever you do, do not open the attachment and delete the mail from your system. also, for it to have originated from you, the programme Iheight.scr must be on your system somewhere. type the name in the file search and see if this is the case (viri choose files and progs at random to hide themselves in before sending themselves off to all and sundry). If you don't have the file or program then it is a mystery. You could try 'view details' on the email and see what path it took before it was returned to you. sorry, can't think of anything else at the moment.

Did you get email I sent you 2 days ago, Phischcake? If so, please refrain from replying in case you're infected... Dear.

Infected? Is it severe? I mean I am both a doctor and a funeral director, so either way I can't fail....

A doctor and a funderal director. Reminds me of a very popular joke in Poland: What is a doctor walking behind a funeral procession? An example of the effect preceding the cause. Just a Polish joke, mind. :))))

Fish, you should invest in some virus protection software. It's not terribly expensive, in fact you could probably just borrow a disk from someone, install it, and then download the updates from their web site. And for the benefit of the lawyer's reading this, yes, then she should pay for a new copy because what I've just described is technically theft. There! :))))

Go to http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.htm and download their free anti-virus package which is well nang and sorted my home computer out after I got some awful virus. On a more serious note Phisch, now you are infected, do you go round ringing a bell and shouting "unclean"? *rapidly knits two-ply condom for trip to murky*

nang! brilliant a new word for the collection: Nang - very useful, nicely presented and it works I like the word. I imagine it would mean something similar to "gear" in the sense of being good or great. "She looked well nang to me. I bet she's iced about tomorrow..." We could invent a whole new language.....
