Her beautiful smile
For National Poetry Day.......
And for a very special little girl...
Her beautiful smile
Abandoned by a culture
A tradition
A religion
A way-of-life
That demands strong, healthy sons
Loneliness beyond comprehension
Profoundly disabled
Physically
Mentally
Deaf
Blind
Loneliness beyond imagination
She’s in paradise now
Running like the wind
Laughing
Singing
Listening
With a beautiful mind
That her beautiful smile
Could only hint at

"I have nothing to say and I am saying it and that is poetry."
John Cage 1961
Sounds like Stuart has the mind of a gazelle - flighty and prone to grazing
(I should know, I fit this category myself)

For poetry is the blossom and the fragrance of all human knowledge, human thoughts, human passions, emotions, language.
--Coleridge.
"A very good or very bad poet is remarkable, but a middling one who can bear?
Thomas Fuller 1732
A beautiful poem.
Excuse me.
But shouldn't poetry be somewhere else and not here in the Diss?
Because I don't want to have to open a thread and be confronted by poetry. It's like taking a slug of lager and finding the can full of cockroaches.
Poetry should be somewhere else, where normal people don't have to look at it.

thats a bit harsh isnt it. you didnt have to read the poem, surely just by lookin you could tell it was a poem. and because the site is mostly down at the min where else is there to put it???
and i agree the poem is really nice.
It's a great poem Shack, straight into the heart! And it hurts to think about losing one so young and vulnerable.
“Life” is poetry Stuart, stop putting your life in to boxes man! Where else is he going to put a poem at the moment?
And what’s with the piss take over the copyrights thing? Some people do and some people don’t in here.
Creek
Fair point.
Poetry man, it makes me angry because I don't understand it.
And I've tried, I really have.
I've bought books and everything.
But I just don't get it.
Well I do to an extent. Shakespeare, now that's great poetry and I love that. And my buddy Damian Coleman's stuff is ace. But generally I find poetry a mystery.
And that bums me out dude.
Why Stuart
This was a beautiful thought provoking poem. Why have you turned it into another thread of moaning and griping?
Wow, Stuart what a subject to raise on a site like this! Ho! ho! this one could rattle on a bit.
Poetry, for me is a state of mind, I look at some of your postings and they are poetic to me Stuart. They would be even more poetic if you gave a little indication of the background to the creative input behind them. But that's asking a lot because you appear quite mad Stuart. But the pod people is funny and poetic in a way, for me.
Its a bit like a sweet shop really Stuart you walk in and you know what you like but it would be boring (sorry about the "B" word) if you always bought the same thing. But if Shakespeare and your buddy’s poems do it for you then that's great too, you are not a lost cause Stuart.
But you will be if this is a wind up?
Creek
Well I like moaning and griping. I'm really good at it.
And this isn't a wind up.
Look, this is one of Damian's poems.

A Scolding
It's not that I was upset when you guys went out
Saw a great rock show and returned with great rock stories;
it's that you left me here with 5 beers in the fridge
and a full bottle of red wine,
knowing what I'm like.

Now I think that's great because it tells me everything I need to know by hardly saying anything.
Is that just because I identify with the subject matter of the poem, or is it because Damian is very sparing and skillful with language?
No Stuart, it's because "you like it"!
Try feeling happy and focus on something then, it gives you a different out look to being a gruppy old fart! And I know cos for years I was one!
Cheer up Stuart!
Ok.
I'll try to cheer up.
But I'm not promising anything.
And I didn't mean to be nasty about Mr/Mrs Shakleton's poem.
Or maybe I did.
God, life is complicated sometimes.
I absolve you Stuart for my part, for what is a decent and honourable apology!
AS-SALAAM ALEIKUM!
.....peace be upon you!
I am feeling better actually.
Thanks.
Wait a sec, this is doing nothing for my reputation as a thread hooligan.
Are you trying to make me look like a wimp?
er...
bugger off you pair of, er.. buggers.
I'm Stuart and I'm really hard.
But that's just my fault for reading cliteratti.
Oh dear, and it was all going so weel for awhile.
It was going weely, weely well!
Less pungent than a fart
Its words flitter and dart
A carion crows nest that sets it apart...
From Tracy Emin's talentless bed...its' poetry man...it's art!
Life's a pisser 2003.
