Now Tell Us Something We Don't Believe.

The National Scruples And Lies survey, commisioned by 'That's Life' magazine (which I've never heard of) has arrived at some conclusions that will astound most men. Of 5000 women (average age 38yrs old) taking part in the survey 94% admitted to telling lies on a regular basis, almost half said they would deceive their partners into believing they were responsible for extra-curricular pregnancies and 48% admitted faking orgasms, (presumably in a restaurant). Psychologist Susan Quilliam said women lie because they are afraid to tell the truth for fear of failure or criticism. Now why would a guy criticise his partner for being truthful and telling him that it was actually his best mate that got there first?

'94% admitted to telling lies on a regular basis.' That sounds short of the true figure to me.

George! I have never told a lie to my wife that I have got away with! You know me George, so why has a story wrote 24 hrs ago been on the spike on this site since the same time last night?

>>>Psychologist Susan Quilliam said women lie because they are afraid to tell the truth for fear of failure or criticism.<<< well bowl me over. has she a degree in the bleeding obvious? isn't that why all people lie, male or female? (apart from those female 'I lied to protect you isms' and malicious lies made by all and sundry to drop others in the shite - tho' that could fall into the fear of failure catagory)

Hi Stormy and Flash and all you other writers, I would like to think it was a techno failure but, no the piece has been there for twenty four hours on my profile under “Middle East Occupation” and I have done minor edits to it during this time. But for sure unless I say now “why has it been on the spike so long?” I feel it will jut stay there and hang there unread until the end of ABC! So why has it been side tracked?

Well I just checked the latest 100 and "Middle East Occupation" still isn't in the first 100 after 24 hours of being posted! So is there some censorship going on here? Favourite Authors seem to appear quite quickly don't they?

There is no censorship going on here, I can assure you, Creek. And the reason these "Favourite Authors' " work is appearing so quickly, is probably, that the poems/stories don't contain swear words and the like. I don't know why your work is still on the spike, I'll have a look and see...

my last post before bed ... creek, i think you are being paranoid about this. when I joined the site sometimes a piece of mine might hang for up to 12 hours (max) since then editors have come and gone and Liana does a pretty fantastic job of keeping up bearing in mind her studies, family committments and so on. TC, I've noticed has often spent a while 'clearing the spike' in the last year or so not to mention Mark and all the other editors (most of whom have been online I notice in the last 24 hours). so, as i said, it is either a site error or an uploading error. you have pressed 'save' and not 'save as draft' haven't you. your comment about 'favourite authors' is unworthy. everyone gets caught on the spike at times... the last piece i submitted was held overnight. all I'm saying is don't get nasty about this. I doubt there is some huge conspiracy going on.

Thanks Elf, I appreciate that you mean what you say but if you look tomorrow, then it will still have been 36 hours on my profile but not posted! So hey! You can say it is a mistake but it will still be a case of, “if I hadn't asked, it would have just gone by up posted!” Well for me that is censorship!

Thanks Elf,….Stormy.. Nasty? I don't think so Matey.... In any circle of Wolves there are Alphas and the others mate. My style is definately "the others" like so many on this site, but my work should have had the same exposure as the Alphas in a fair crack! See you around Pal in the real world! I've had enough sycophantic site! O' an for the record Middle East Occupation is about the Roman Occupation of Palistine! Just in case some of you can't work it out!

I checked the spike before I went to bed last night at around ten... and there was definitely nothing on it. I am now about to check it again before I get the kids up and start my day. The spike is *never* left for a long time. there is no censorship, i wouldve cleared it if i had seen it there - elf, why wasnt it showing on the spike? I resent a bit the inference that the eds clear their favourite authors first... thats simply not true. the spike is cleared all the time, regardless of who is on it - just that sometimes, we have some other things to do - you know, eat, work, sleep. Sycophantic? How RUDE. Stoorms, thanks for the attempted explanation and understanding mate.

The spike is always cleared, but even when I used to get up at 6.00am to clear it and had cleared it by midnight the night before, people still complained about it. Still think the best solution is for the story to appear in the last posted ONCE it has been cleared from the spike; but am loath to suggest any technical improvements given how much hassle the last upgrade caused. It's a fairly obvious point that most of the editors have 'real' jobs as well, so if you post something at 9.30, it may well have to wait until 6.00pm. If people would refrain from editing the same piece ten times in a fortnight, or posting batches of twenty pieces at a time, that might speed things up...

Creek U daft tw*t...... as pieces are submitted, they all hit the last 100 though only the eds can see those trapped by the titbumarse-checker. Poor old L works her fingers to the bone to clear it (aided at various intervals by the other eds). Having a go in this manner is hardly likely to entice her, or the others, to make sure yours are cleared quickly, now is it ? Those I've looked @ this morning all appear to be empty.... reckon you must be doing something wrong when you submit them. It's easy to get it wrong with the 'almost-working' submission process. It's also easy to offend those that work without payment to give you the forum for your work. Now apologise or we'll send round The Big Bloke........ [%sig%]

Thanks Tony. Apoligies to those that feel insulted by my posts.

I think the apology has to come from us. It would seem that occasionally in this new and ridiculous world stories that go 'on the spike' do not actually on the spike. Carpenter_t has had the same problem. The spike is cleared very very regularly by me and by the Editors but this is a mad one. Almost every story that is flagged up appears on it but now two have not. It's all very puzzling and apologies to Colin and Creeky for the confusion. You are both right - the spike is cleared very fast but this one never got there. Too too weird.

Well i dont agree Tony. We are ALL having problems, and aggressively denouncing each other is not due an apology.

<> Erm, that would be Palestine rather than Palistine. Just mentioning it, in case you appeared to not be able to work it out.
