A festival to mark the centenary of the formation of the ‘Bloomsbury Group’, and using this group as a key to unlock a wider celebration of the Bloomsbury area, its history and landmarks, and the artistic, creative and cultural personalities connected with the area.

- ‘Writing the City’: Creative dramatic workshops exploring theme ‘Bloomsbury’ with Jonathan Kemp
This one day creative writing workshop will begin with a brief look at some examples of writing about London. We will see how various writers have chosen to describe the city, how the city’s rhythms can be captured in words. There follows a literary tour of Bloomsbury then in the afternoon we begin to write, weaving stories out of the fabric of the city. There will be the opportunity to read out the results of the workshop on the main stage in the evening.

A new adaptation of one of Virginia Woolf’s most provocative books. This intense, dramatic and passionate performance examines the meanings of masculinity and femininity through the life of the main character Orlando.
The story presents a feminist overview of history from the days of Elizabeth the First to the end of WW1. Orlando, who was modelled on Woolf’s close friend Vita Scakville West goes from being a young man in Queen Elizabeth’s court to a love affair with a Muscovite princess; from Ambassador Extraordinary to encounters, now as Lady Orlando, with the famous English writers Pope. Addison and Swift.
