We have to assume that that call centres were closed yesterday after the explosions and the unemployables were at a loose end. Hence the sudden outburst of aggressive, pre-pubescent foolishness on this thread.
I don't entirely agree with Hen but "manufactured emotion" has certainly made me blase and apathetic.
Please save ribbons, flowers and crocodile tears for someone who isn't so world weary.
david,
As ever, you have it correctly. I was referring to one little tyrant on this thread who in four posts before my comment and now one after, displayed an immature and wholly inappropriate sense of humour in one and a pre-adolescent and badly expressed aggressiveness in four others.
RichardW,
My use of the term "unemployables" was also carefully directed. I personally don't know anyone who has worked in this unloved field, praise the Lord, but I have gained an impression of call centre staff from reading these threads.
Quotes like; "... a significant minority of the companies that make these calls are poorly regulated, with employees that aren't too worried about the law." and "... I'm sure you feel infinitely superior to the people who do this sort of job, but consider that our social function. Might go some way to explaining why it's about the only job I can get." tend give me a view about the kind of people who can do no better than get a job annoying reasonable and law-abiding people on the telephone.
Oh, and that latter quote came from the mouth of the tyrant himself.
I can't understand these people - Camden Council is at a standstill - some offices have been evacuated but where do they go they're bombing stations and bloody buses ffs.
How could someone sit down and plot the murder of innocent people.
Hen,
I don't find anything about suggesting to a nitwit (that's you) that taking their head from their rear end and cleaning their ears to be pompus. I could be wrong though. I have little respect for nitwits, can't help it. I'm Popeye the sailor man.
Horrendous reports on News 24, my heart goes out to everyone down in London. I hope your friends are ok, Jude - like Liana says there's a complete transport gridlock, they're probably stuck and been told to stay put.
Keep in touch.

it's terrible because it's the result of terror by terrorists. the G8 summit was probably too well guarded and transport systems can yield casualties AND gridlock causing chaos to the business community.
It was always going to happen, just a question of when.
NOW maybe we can ALL stand together and try to stop these people by whatever means necessary.
A lot of the mobile phone networks are down. I've just driven in to docklands, having been near Liverpool street at 8.00 this morning - an hour early thank god ( have a quick word with him/her Jude).
London readio reports 3 incidents on the underground and at least 1 bus blown up. Also reports that an area near Liverpool street has now bneen sealed off due to a suspect device. Eye witness reports on LBC were horrific.
Everyone you see is on their phone trying to contact friends and family, so the networks must be on overload.
What a difference in less then 24 hours from the euphoria of yesterday.
All confusion where I was. Was on bus going into central london and carried on walking to Camden.
By the time I worked out what was going on I'd ended up in the disaster zone but was nearer here than home so decided it was most sensible to carry on.

We are still putting out a Newspaper, even though so many of our editorial staff couldn't get in. The Financial Times supports and stands for free market capitalism - the feeling here today is one of defiance and "business as usual".
Well its all on the news here in the states and of course we all feel your pain. Someone said it was always going to happen just a matter of when...how horrible to feel that way but I have to agree with the sentiment as sad as it is.
I hope this is it though and I wish you all to be safe.
