Clare Boylan Dies

Was sad to read that the Irish writer Clare Boylan has died at 58. Clare was the author of some of my favourite novels, such as Holy Pictures and Room For A Single Lady. She was particularly good at evoking the past, combining strong characterisation (particularly of women) and tenderness with a wicked sense of humour. Her last book was Emma Brown, a completion of Charlotte Bronte's unfinished work.
