What was that book called?
Does anyone else have have sudden flashbacks to books they read years ago, but that they dont know the name/author of?
Every now and then my mind wanders off to one scene in a book I read as a kid, where a child - or maybe two - goes at night to the top of a hill where they bury/dig up something in a cairn. It was quite scary and possibly something to do with aliens but I'm not sure. There were lots of storms and something about a farm and policemen. I'm pretty sure it was set in the English countryside, and Evil was definitely involved somewhere. Not a lot of info I know, but perhaps someone has some clue what story I'm on about? Any help would be appreciated!
It was from Dale Winton's autobiography, `A man for all reasons`
Oh, to bury Dale Winton in a cairn....
Poor Dale!
I worked alongside him from 1979 to 1981 at Radio Trent in Nottingham and he was always a lovely geezer. Camp, crazy and very very luvvy but a lovely geezer all the same.
I bumped into him in Soho about a year ago and although I'd lost all of my hair, put on three stone (that's 42 lbs. for you shermans) he recognised me, hailed me from across the street and was still a lovely geezer. That's why he gets so much work - he's great to work with and has none of that high and mighty attitude that so many TV stars possess. He knows that his fame is transitory and treats it accordingly.
For those who don't know - he's a TV host in the UK!
Pip pip,
Tony
Dale Winton's great - when you only see him in snatches (too much and he'd quickly become a turn-off of Carol Voderman proportions). I worry about his tan though; looks like he rubs car oil into his face (sorry Dale- it's true!).
Taj.... you may wish to re-phrase the first part of your post!
*apologies to all for the smut factor creeping in...... but the mental image.......*
You'll never see me in snatches!
