What do you want written on your gravestone?

My daughter has asked me, for the second time today, when I am going to die. It started me thinking that maybe a little forward planning might be in order. I'm thinking about a nice little jaunty inscription on the headstone. Have you got ideas for your own? (Everyone turns off their computers and mutters 'Too much Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that one', then legs it.)

Hi, I cremated my father today and here is his epitaph from me: Remember the good, forget the bad, Remember the happy, never the sad, Always the laughter, never the tears, All of the memories, throughout the years. These are the things that I will recall, After the pain has started to fall, So my dear Dad you had to fly, Off to Bonny Scotland, with the softest sigh. You may have gone in body and in soul, And with your leaving, you left a huge hole, But I am so happy, that you were my Dad, 'Cos you made me happy, and never sad. Remember I love you, wherever you are, And with you in heaven, there's a bright new star. Give 'em Hell Dad, Goodnight and Bless You. AJ xxxxx

I always find it amusing that in books and films the dying always manage to spout layer upon layer of profound/witty/plot-enhancing dialogue. Sometimes they witter on for ages. I'd just say 'bugger off' and be done with it.

My head was always stoned I was 76 when I died. I blame it on all those dangerous drugs. Let that be a lesson to you all. And remember folks: 'turn up, talk crap, drop dead'
