Sophie Hannah ... am i missing something?
spent a good deal of time in murky library today reading their new poetry collection which is actually quite good ...
i tried to get to grips with sophie hannah .... who has always eluded me in the past ... and i failed ...
can anyone explain all the hoo hah?
Who? Hah! Never heard of her.
she's some Young Thing, tom...poems are a bit like wendy cope's perhaps but rhymier...covers of the books are nice, mind...
Right. Her fame hasn't reached here yet. Our track isn't even beaten. There's this new poet Christina Rossetti, quite good, bit miserable.
Is this where you lurk, Robert? Always forget to look in the other forums.
not really lurking in any forum very much at the moment, tom...email comin at ya...
Right. My e-mail was playing up last night.
She's the female Hegley.
Hegley is better. Don't mind Sophie Hannah. 4 or 5 of her poems are really good although she's never written anything that's made stand back in amazement.
I think her relative success is probably down to the fact that there's a reasonably sized market for poets who write stuff that rhymes (and scans) and also has some sort of surface meaning. There are very few current poets who do this or even try to.
wonder why........
*scratches idly*
