Goat Biscuit Junior

Having never used forums on any website before, I couldn't help thinking that there was nothing they could offer me.

How wrong could I be.

After posting the topic on job interviews, alot of you replied with some very helpfull advice, none more so than Goat Biscuit Junior, his inspired advice has help me more han I could possibly imagine.

Yesterday, I went for an impromptu interview for a job that i had no experience for and if i'm honest, one that I thought I never had a chance in hell of getting, taking with me all goats advice, all the pre-arranged answers in my head and a little hope, I went and had possibly the best interview that I could have hoped for. It went so well, I didn't even feel like I'd been for an interview, I felt more like an oscar winning actor going for a part in a school play.

Anyway, after telling me that they would let me know sometime next week, they called today, with the news that they didn't feel they needed to interview anyone else for the position and the job was mine if I wanted it.

Needles to say, I accepted there and then, with that decision I doubled my current salary, received a company car and the benefits of a bonus scheme that runs on loyalty and not results.

So MR Goat Biscuit Junior, you have without doubt changed my life for the better, for that I cannot thank you enough, indeed if you wish to e-mail me your address, I`ll send you a bottle of your favourite tipple, along with my heartfelt thanks, I understand if you don't wish to take me up on this offer, but i cannot think of any other way to thank you.

once again thank you.

Jason

Wow! See, it is worth sticking around, because under all the mud slinging and pie fights there is a wonderful beating heart of possibility here at ABCtales. If we can get past the brawling and fisticuffs, who knows what we could acheive as a community? Congrats Jason, and congrats to Goat Biscuit for showing just how wonderful a thing like a discussion board can be. Instead of giving each other headaches, why not try and give each other a hand? Or failing that give me a hand.

Hi Jason What a fantastic result and well done to you, I suspect the success is 99 per cent down to Jason and 1 per cent down to Goat, but even so I'm dead chuffed... Being a total non-drinker - I'm actually an alcoholic trapped in a teetotaller's body - you're spared having to send me a bottle of my favourite tipple, but there is something else you could do which would help me... This is going to sound very sad but...I'd be really interested to know more about your interview... what questions were asked, did they try any of the tricks I warned you about (ie intimidating silences, pretending the interview had ended when it hadn't)... also which pieces of Goat advice were most helpful/relevant and which didn't work so well? were you able to throw in a few negatives... did you give specific examples to back up your claims.... how did you answer the greatest weakness question... was the interviewer an HR professional or just a normal human being?... of all the things you said what do you think went down the best...any stuff like that... Your answers could help me with a project I've been thinking about for some time.... Don't worry if you don't feel like answering some or indeed any of these questions...it's not a problem... However, if you are able to, my email address is: breandan@irishnation.com... Anyway, thanks for your kind words, and for taking the trouble to let us know the result...you have given me without doubt my proudest ABC moment... [frantic activity as 100,000 ABCtalers abandon computer in search of bucket....] But Goat doesn't care, because Goat has had a bad week and this news has really cheered him up....so there....

So pleased for you Jason can see why your over the moon and well done Goat Biscuit we can do with a few more like you on here. Someone else who I think could do with some praise from us all is Mark Brown he certainly got it right on his thread above especially his second to last line, well his whole thread really, as when I closed my computer down day before yesterday and I did tell one other person, I thought thats it no more discussion group and threads their not worth the bother anymore, time for pastures new although the person I told did try to talk me out of it and I didn't put my computer on all day yesterday Have just put it on now to see if I had got any mail and force of habit went straight into ABC and came across this delightful thread, so who knows...

I dont mind telling, I`ve left the sweat and grease of the kitchens behind me, put away my knives, put my whites in the loft, and am looking forward to starting my new job as the catering manager for an international bank. Its not going to be easy, but then, who wants easy? you wouldn't beleive the amount of money they spend an hospitality, now I Know what all those bank charges pay for.
