Desperately Seeking...Aefelthrith?
Posted by philwhiteland on Sat, 18 Apr 2026
You may have noticed a complete absence of Aefelthrith and Gwladys since mid-February? On the other hand, this hiatus may have passed you by, completely, and I can't say that I blame you! What's happened to the story, you may ask yourself? Surely, we were within a gnat's doo-dah of the denouement? To which the answer is, yes, we were and I'm sorry it's come to a grinding halt in the way that it has.
The explanation is that we had an unfortunate family bereavement at the end of February and, ever since then, I have been fully committed with dealing with the aftermath, which is complicated by the fact that our family member lived in Spain and we're here in the U.K. As this is taking up my every waking hour, spending time in the past with my two trainee pawnbrokers (not to mention 'Arrry, Clarence and Dolly) has had to take a back seat. But nil desperandum, as soon as I can see a light at the end of the tunnel (and it doesn't turn out to be the 3.15 Express to Euston) I will return to my tale and all will be revealed.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience ![]()
