Noughth Week

Over the next three days, the road outside, and all the way around the block, is being dug up.  Don’t know what for, but as a consequence, we have all had to move our cars from preferred spots as there is no parking.  Walking home from the free car park, a routine is broken, and a new path appears.

One of the signs you’re recovering nicely from whatever has ailed you, is that boredom sets in.  Boredom and a mild panic about wasted hours and years and time running out and having to do something!  Look at what Matt Damon and Christpher Nolan have achieved!   I don’t need to make a phenomenal movie, or act in a phenomenal manner, I just need to do something, anything, preferably with anti-Altheimer’s benefits and out of this stuck routine I have been mired in.  As usual, all sorts of self-promises and plans get hatched, but on a rare occasion, one of those plans gets put into action.  Concerned about the brain-rotting implications of binge-watching ‘True Blood’, Ah Eric, I have booked an online course with Oxford University.  Not cheap, but worth it, I hope.  Also, not the course I thought I was going to book, about folklore.  Have booked one about magic in mediaeval times instead.  I have a story, started a few years ago, which I haven’t touched since.  Mostly as I went down the rabbit hole of how people lived back then, why certain laws were passed, what does it all mean?  Basically, totally overwhelmed my brain until I was stuck in a stock standstill.  So, hopefully some courses for the autumn season, or Michaelmas as we Oxford types like to call it, will do the trick.  Tutes start late September.  If it goes well, will maybe book folklore for Hilary.
