Chooselife's Poem Of The Week

Chooselife is currently trying to prevent his life unravelling like one of his Grandmother's hand-knitted balaclavas. He sends you this to tide you over until normal service can be resumed (if ever):

Spent

Right now I feel like the pebble, river skimmed,
at the point where surface tension
strips it of its energy

or the wooden trolley in a science test,
freewheeling up an incline to the point
where gravity finally wins.

Perhaps it’s age that makes me wish
to be the spring stretched
an inch too far,

or to feel the freedom of the satellite,
arced around the sun, slingshot
beyond the point of no return.
