grammar and spelling

Having just joined the site i have been trying to find time whenever i can to read as much as i can already posted, and i have come across, time and time again, a distinct lack of attention being paid to spelling.
For example in one story ( i'm afraid i've not figured out how to do the link to the story i'm talking about yet...give me time, i will get there!) i found cheetah written as cheater!! Anyone who wishes to write should i believe pay attention to these things more than the average Joe. It is so vital to mood and atmosphere; the choice of words, variety and richness of language used..so when it is spelt incorrectly, or the grammar is wrong, it throws the reader out of sync with what they are reading and detracts horribly from the essence of the piece. Everyone run to the shops and bag yourself a dictionary and a thesaurus! We are blessed with one of the richest languages, with such beauties as 'squelch', so let's all play with our language more and enjoy each word!

Good point Genie. "Anyone who wishes to write should i believe pay attention to these things more than the average Joe." I second that with, Anyone who wishes to write should, i believe, pay attention to these things more than the average Joe. nobody
"Having just joined the site i have been trying to find time whenever i can to read as much as i can already posted, and i have come across, time and time again, a distinct lack of attention being paid to spelling." I should be a capital 'I', even in the middle of a sentence. This also applies to I'm and I've. Having it in lower case detracts horribly, I feel. Cheers.

i dont mind lower case when it is used for speed in forum conversations. i dont like it when used in stories, or poems though, same as i dont like sloppy grammar and bad spelling. Tell you what i hate even more though - newbies who dont read the faq and post loads of stuff, rendering anything else posted there being shoved so far down that no one gets to see it.
Too fucking right, cath.
I meant no offence, if any was caused I am sorry, cath. I just joined this site to enjoy playing with language and words, and had a quick reaction. Maybe I should learn to bite my tongue. Thank you, nobody, for your corrections..noted!
It must be the season -- another as the newt! Seasonal greetings to the 'Brethren Of The More Strict Observance' The Lone Groover
