How long has everyone been writing on ABC Tales?

To my joy I discovered ABCtales last week.

But I was wondering, how long has everyone been writing on ABC tales?

Sorry, I'm new and full of questions.

Any good advice to someone who has just joined?

Hi Lindy, glad you enjoy the site. I'ce been here since the day is was launched (can't remember the day/date/month, or even year). The Fish (who sometimes knows what she's talking about) gave you good advice there...in fact, perhaps I ought to change some titles around!

Hello Lindy I too was chuffed to bits when I discovered ABC (through another site) in March this year. Its always a treat to find reams of stories and poems that you dont have to pay to read!

I reckon I logged in in November-ish; but I stand to be corrected. What I do recall is that there were about twenty stories and only four cherries. Now I sound like an old git - far from it; the site is far better for all the new faces and opinions. Ivory is right about posting to the letter A. The best tip I can give is to trawl about until you find some pieces you like and then let the author know.

I have been posting since May, I think...although the days merge into one. One of my better decisions.

I only discovered it a few weeks ago...it is frustrating when your stuff isn't read but I perservere. I love it, particularly enjoy the discussion sites, starting a thread is great when it gets loads of replies....here's to the next 50 replies to yours.

That's very generous of you and truly in the spirit of ABC. You'll go far.

Hello Lindy! I've only been on the site since late Feb (I think..) but I can confirm that it's very addictive. Sure, bang stuff in under A - more people will get that far than bother to plough through to R! (I'm only surprised that no-one has yet done the old Yellow Pages trick and registered under aardvark.) You'll probably find that your own favourites are the least read. The answer? Persevere, use the editing facility and keep making 'em better. Each trip through editing will almost certainly result in more readings anyway. All the best.

Welcome Lindy! I've been on here since about April, so I'm a bit of a virgin really... But I'm glad I found this place. All the people who post here are really nice, and some of the work on here is very professional, so get stuck in and have fun!

Welcome aboard, Lindy, I've been contributing to ABCtales since Jan/Feb time, I think. It's good advice about making sure your best work begins with an A, and you'll probably have to change around a few of the titles so that they all fit in one nice little folder. Another spot of advice would be to make the title interesting. I have a piece entitled "Blonde Cathy", which while not one of my better pieces has been read 46 times. Compare this to "Belief", which I really, really like, yet has only been read 24 times, and "Yelling At Them Won't Work" which I particularly like, although only for personal reasons because it brings back such good memories (and also because I think there's a good message in it). However this piece of work has only been read 16 times. Now "Yelling At Them Won't Work" is without a doubt a crap title. But I needed a Y you see. You'll get used to this. It can be a little frustrating, but it's part of the fun of ABCtales. Anyway, welcome again, and just dive straight into the site.

Karl (and Lindy), you can always cheat thus: (If, for instance, 'X" is all you have left) X: 'Yelling At Them Won't Work' (or whatever) (Or, alternatively, make a new set)

I've been on ABC for 50 years, on Sanatogen for 30 years, on Viagra for 3 years and on tenterhooks ever since. I thought Viagra was supposed to help your sex life. Haven't had a single offer since i started taking the bloody stuff. Come to think of it, i haven't had an offer since i backheeled Germaine Greer in 1967. Who wants to make whoopee with a female eunuch? Lovely gal, though.

I've been putting stuff on ABC since Feb, but still haven't got anything beginning with 'A'... hmm, must be doing something wrong...

Straight off to change me "A" - was one of the worst ones I've ever done. Thanks for the tip, guys!

did our night of illicit love not count as anything, audenary?

And you surely can't have forgotten that brief but beautfiul moment in the alley beside that pub in Camden, Audenary.

Stephen, dear boy, how pleasant it is to hear from you after all this rhyme! Of course, I well remember our night of illicit love with those two 'Damsels de la Nuit' in the hammock at your garret. Ah, what Bohemians we were! Four in a hammock, each with a bottle of Absinthe and a haddock supper. What ecstasies those young girls experienced, especially when I gave an impromptu rendition of my 18 books of poetry. Brought tears to their eyes. Actually, one of them told me later that she'd never known a night so long. Would that we had half that vigour nowadays, hey, Stephen? By the way did you ever go back to being a fireman, as I suggested? You should, you know; your poetry is abysmal. As for young Master Wiggins, I do recollect a brief but beautiful moment in an alley in Camden. Were you that police officer? As I said in my statement - the poor gal kept falling over, so I had to keep her upright somehow. No money changed hands and the poor waif is back at the St. Theresa of the Kneetrembler's Convent. Lucky for me that she wasn't on her amenstrual cycle that night! Poodle tip!

I started sending stuff to ABC Tales in the first month of it being on the interwebcybernetspacethingy. Eerily, I turned into someone else entirely. That's what happens when you get cyber-spaced.

That's odd, it happened to me too. I was cyber-spaced via a sex change vortex though. Do you still remember stormy the pony children?
Gabriel Foster

Sue Denham... rings a bell. Apparently Stormy the Pony escaped and has been galloping through the threads ever since. Apparently (2) the sex-change vortex produces little eddy currents that swirl around in the space-time continuum and pop up in the most expected places.
