resolution?
perhaps whoever is in charge of the railways this week/next week/this year/whenever could resolve to sort out the safety issues. I see yet another accident this morning, this time for the brighton to london train... 150 rescued, no fatalities thank goodness.
me? im making no resolutions.. except maybe to avoid travelling by train.... except i already do.
My resolution is to procrastinate more. I will begin tomorrow.
ok ok...I heard that one on TV....but it's still good:))))
my resolution is not to make any resolutions and to just "be".
to be a nicer auntie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :>)
The train was derailed by a landslide caused by the rain. If it's anyone's fault it's God's.
It's not God's fault. The problem for the Brighton line is that it was built in the early days of the railways. It goes through the North and the South Downs in massive cuts dug by hand by thousands of Irish labourers - many of whom lost their lives in the process. They also, incidentally, account for the High Church nature of religion in Brighton which continues to this day as they, along with the French emigres from the Revolution, brought a Catholic attitude to the South Coast.
I digress.
We frequently have landslips and landslides on our line. The foundations of the line were (and still are) very primitive. That will be altered with the much promised but never realised electrification of the line. It will mean massive alterations to the height of all the bridges and tunnels - and there are a lot of them.
It won't happen.
That leaves us with a slow and hopeless service which no one addresses. Not much to do with God, just our attitude to public transport. If it was a road it would have been fixed years ago.
So we continue to have disruption although I did eventually manage to get to London today - but getting home again might be another matter. Ho Hum. Good to be back? Not really.
Um.... that wasnt me.... think you are on the pc i used last in the office tony :o)
i was wondering how liana got to london so fast ...
Ye Gods...we have witnessed a miracle....the first known case of teletransportation of a human being through the telephone lines....uh..oh....never mind.
The ho-hum was the giveaway. And the lack of eeek.
My resolution is to do something new every week, so yesterday I watched the news. I don't think I'll be doing that again. People who watch it must be sadists or masochists or something.
ho hum I must stop saying it
My resolution is to do something I've already done BUT this time I will do it whilst carrying a metal detector. It's tricky but I figure where there's a will there's a way.
Jogging, yesterday morning.. was a complete bitch though.
Drinking alone in a pub.. quite fun actually.. you just lean the metal detector up against the stool.. it's a talking point, actually.
I console myself with the fact that I never learnt how to swim.
