Just as a matter of interset, I was wondering where everyone lived, not specificly just a general area kind of thing.
I think its because I like to try and get a sense of people and knowing where people are, gives me an idea of the kinds of things that might have an influence on your daily lives, I mean living in London is a different enviroment from living in bournemouth, different sights and sounds, diferent people and attitudes. in fact while i`m being so nozy, if you don't like where you live, where would you like to live? (in this country that is)
I`m in bournemouth and wouldn't move anywhere.
Wow Deptford , thats where 'Squeeze' formed one of my fav bands.
Clapham, London. Too close to Stuart for comfort :0)
Amazing! Mark Brown, Alison Brown (are you two related?) and Jay..we are neighbours! I live in Brockley but get my fruit and veg from Lewisham and Deptford. My favourite place for fresh meat is Mr Wellbeloved the Butcher who must be practically on Mark Brown's doorstep. oh i say, what good company i keep. I grew up in Altrincham so neil_the_auditor is also a kind of neighbour. Was born in Cardiff and went to college in Cambridge.
My bank account details are as follows:
goat,
its going to take a few days for me to get all the info on my interview together, but i am on it and i`ll get it to you :-)
thanks mate, no hurry...
Deptford is indeed the land of 'Squeeze'. 'Cool for Cats' was written about the Deptford Arms on Deptford High Street. Jules of course moved up the hill to Blackheath where he can still be seen racing about in his open top roadster, scarf flying. He still knocks about the pubs in Greenwich, if not Deptford.
Deptford is also a land of pirates and skulduggery, the darkside of Greenwich's Imperial splendour.
i live in Peckham or East Dulwich as i like to call it (sure i've said this here before). i would like to live nowhere in the Uk and anywhere in Australia.
and stuart lives in Brixton.
I live in Brighton but work in dearest Kentish Town. I must be mad - especially as there's no Northern Line!
I live near Wallington Goat, I live in Sutton which classes itself as South West London and Surrey.
I live somewhere between Deptfort , Blackheath, Greenwich and
Woolwich have done all my life and know them all so well.
In the old days Deptfort was always known as dirty Deptfort.
Wish I lived in Bournemouth and have always fancied Ireland as I love
Irish people...
Amsterdam, for my sins - or theirs, depending on your point of view...
Jay,
well I never! You must live fairly near to me!
I bet you haven't half got some stories to tell about the area I now call my own. I live opposite the bottom of Deptford High Street, and I see stories happening there all the time, so how many stories must there be from times that have gone by?
i love irish people too jay...
i live in a weeny village in lincolnshire, and i love it here.
I am irish
I also have a soft spot for Deptford but not for London, ..if they could cut Deptford out of the map and put it in between Blackburn and Bolton I'd be happier. This would almost make Darwen hip, as well.
Christopher Marlowe was stabbed to death in a pub in Deptford (the reliable 'Shakespeare in Love' video informs one) ..I wonder which one.
I am on a sabbatical in Korea (but don't tell my parents, they'll kill me)

Just outside Reading, that great carbuncle on the Thames.

is no one from Wales?
Our new drama lecturer is called Christopher Marlowe. This should be on the silly names thread..... :o)
Got to say it just can't miss the opportunity.
Spag have just found my reason for loving you...
fancy that Spag, you and me neighbours...have you ever been to the Sutton Writers Circle...? my wife used to be a member and we still get information about meetings, but she hasn't been for ages....
actually we do most of our shopping in Sutton...wouldn't it be funny if we met up and it turned out I was that driver who cut you up and swore at you the other day, or vice versa...
if it was me I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have done it...and if it was you, well, you should be ashamed of yourself...
Liana we are often on the same wave length wonder why that is.
That weeny village does sound idyllic so nice to have found somewhere
where one is happy.
I'm happy at the moment because I have found threads I can and want!!
to answer but much better still I am getting some answers back, very
rear!! but when it happens no matter how short!! it gives me a sence of
belonging instead of giving it all my end and then being left out in the cold.
Now I am about to answer another thread that make it three on the trot,
haven't had it so good in a long!! time no wonder I thought Mark Browns
thread so right and said as much on Jayarebee thread to Goat Junior.
No it won't last but happyness is not an everyday thing in most people's
life's because life its self is just not like that, more's the pity.
Ooh Jay you've got your happiness shoes on today.
Go on - dance the fandango and then have a large stiff... drink.
Get out a map and find the A1/A14 junction. Go east a bit (that's right for the ladies, no I said right...ok, turn the map upside down if you prefer) then go up a bit (north) and I'm somewhere near there
Hi Mark, Loads of never ending stories, My Uncle Joe always lived in dirty
Deptford as it was always!! called he was my dad's brother and as my
dad died when I was only a year old he sort of stood in for him if you
know what I mean having no kids of his own, he would never live
anywhere else than Deptfort because he loved it there.
My grandfather, my mum's Father was a proof reader for a news paper for
years at a big building in Greenwich which is still standing today and he
once told me his work was to read everything backwards correcting all
grammer while doing it, I think he did that boy and man for 50ys odd
years some going...
My fourth in one day does it get any better I ask you.
Ok Tony just for you I will do the fandango and god help you if I fall over,
as for the drink have to be a large glass of iced water i'm afraid but I'll be
quite happy with that, anyway got to keep my wits about me just might
get some more threads to answer but if so as it is TV time so the answers
will have to wait, very nice to here from you...
Liana,
you'd better make sure you don't invite your down to see me.
Mayhem could ensue.
I'm from Manchester but I suspect most of you already know that.
Definite London bias to this site, it has to be said!
[%sig%]
i presume word lecturer is missing... :o)
Lol Goat biscuit jr. small world, eh? I am the probably guy that brushed past you in haste to get out of Sutton as fast as is Spagly possible. If I am I apologise.
Awwwwww Jay that just made my day. Thanks
I know the A5 it has loads of round abouts - does the A1 have more round abouts than the A5? Is it as boring as the A5?
clapton in east london, but originally from bath....but i've been an east londoner for 10 years now, and can't imagine living anywhere else...
i live at the other end of deptford high street to my dear brother. i live at the end with the church and near the laben centre. its odd, from my 4th floor flat i can see there place where mark started out his live in deptford, and didnt know that at the time of coming to see the room.
but for the past 3 year i was in farnham in surrey at uni...
before that the west end of newcastle. oooh i get about a bit. :-P
i am in the east midlands
too near to corby for my liking
Corby, Northants they have guards on the town perimeters to stop anybody escaping.
You could start digging a tunnel or steal a hotair balloon
Wallington in Surrey now, but grew up in Marlow, Bucks...I'd like to live in Ireland...
I'm in Essex, Stufart is insane, Larph is inarticulate and Dicko is in a world of his own.
I'm in Kentish Town, north London sat in the throbbing nerve centre of the ABCtales empire. In the few hours of the week when I am not at work, I live in Deptford, south east London, which I love dearly.
London.
