Pointless, stupid and inaccurate game

This is all of the above things, but I was just playing round with the periodic table (hey, I have a low attention span) and wondering if you could make words out of the chemical symbols used for the elements - the answer generally is NO - they keep tacking Li, La onto the very useful L's, and there are no D's or Dr's - they are all Db and other similarly useless stuff.

But I wondered if anyone could have a better crack at regular contributors names than these three (which are vaguely phonetically correct)

Lithium, Aluminium, Sodium

Sulphur, Tellurium, Oxygen, Rhodium, Manganese, Yttrium, Platinum, Radium, Lithium

Phosphorus, Gold, Lithium.

If anyone could do me a passable Drew Gummerson, I'd be very impressed.

And here's a nice periodic table link...

As Andrew said, it's inaccurate,.. and stupid and pointless I feel I fit that description very well at the moment. Still in a funny mood I can't shake off.

Don't think there is any from the combination of just two, not phonetically any way. But just out of boredom.. HEN is the unstable Helium and Nitrogen FLASH is the very combustible Fluorine, Lanthanum, Sulfur, Hydrogen, if you take away the La and S, then add a Little S and charcoal. Dmitri turns in his grave! At least we can see what elements make up our names. Try the isotope's Andrew, you may have better luck there.

Now think Liana should be Lithium, Argon, Sodium, which is at least Liarna, which is more phonetic. I'd neglected Hen, that would have been easy. I did try for Ralph, but got stuck with the L - Rafe is a very elegant solution. I like Hedy Gibbons. I had in mind when I started this topic that Stormy would be the boy for it. Can anyone come up with a short story comprised of Element symbols?

Well, if they can, they are obviously milking the welfare state for all it can give.

You can do Erin Brokovich and Alice in Wonderland... but I can't be arsed, as it is (a) home time (b) I have had a blinding result at court and (c) I have had two pints and feel another six calling out for me, right now... I also know that you can make the word Helicopters.

*Tryes A Different Tactic* Emma! Don't want to know how the rewrite is coming on, so you don't have to tell me anything. Don't think that i am in any way interested, because even if i was, you don't have to tell me anything. Just because it happens to be a lovely pieces of writing that i found a very enjoyable read, or because i happen to think that the writer, "mentioning no names?" has so far don a grate job in brining the thing to life, doesn't mean that you are under any obligation to let me no how it is coming on. *Runs for cover*

Hat! Was that my name you added to that thread? If so, Thanks Emma, I like that description. If no! *Doesn't bother me! Don't need anyone to be Nice's to me anyway..* *Scuffs His Feet*

John, you are too kind, but it's the structure that's getting me in a rage, and Andrew's advised me to get a lot more structure worked out before I post any more, so I took it off, as it didn't make any sense as it stood.

Emma. Can i be little bit cheeky and ask you weather you have written down a synopsis and a good outline of ware the story is going, what comes first, next and so on. I mean actually written it down.

A good technique is to write key incidents in the story down on record cards, then move them about on a table until the order is pleasing. (And I hope I haven't put you off your work Emma - get yourself down a library until inspiration strikes...)

Emma, my uncle is spearheading new campaign to keep libraries open all night (in case you're interested)

Hey, that's interesting reading Rachel. Do you know I thought at first that you were pointing me in this direction for the sake of reading and improving my writing, following Andrew's post above, but I've just remembered the other reason for you suggesting I might like them to open at night....tsk tsk, what do you take me for? Fair enough. It would be death to my reading if I spent more time in libraries.lol. Seriously though, yes, libraries could be made into really sexy places to my mind, why not, I mean they are great big public spaces with potential for so much more going on, they need to communicate better about what a book can really do for a reader. It'll be interesting to see what changes might happen.
