Found this today and rather liked it - Sixties Number Ones, that contain in their lyrics slightly unusual words. Ideal for Missi, but most of them are pretty well known songs. (The ones with the asterisks indicate that it was probably much, much better known in UK than anywhere else, and the brackets are the compiler's hints, which are helpful for some but not others)

1 socks (CLUE: holy socks?)
2 merry-go-round* (no socks!)
3 lulu (beach babe)
4 playmate* (on a horse)
5 Clyde (Middle Eastern reggae)
6 snitch (Mersey bribing)
7 seasick (with all those virgins)
8 paraffin* (death of a Scouse chemist)
9 farmyard (cock rock?)
10 embassy (Euro chic)
11 acorns (talking bagism)
12 tavern (getting nostalgic)

(Actually, I've never heard of the song listed at number 3, but the rest of the songs are well-known)

Tom is very good at this... Yes, it is Father McKenzie, darning his socks. Number two is indeed Puppet on a string. Nobody's got number four! Five is The Israelites. Missi is right, number 6 is Little Children. Nobody's got number seven yet (I don't get the clue myself), Number 8 is a good one. Nine is Little Red Rooster. Ten is indeed where do you go my lovely. Eleven nobody's got, and Twelve is Those Were the Days, well done Hox. Let's try some Seventies ones now... 1 Borneo* (musical masochism) 2 Ancoats* (at easel) 3 bugle (distant drums) 4 daffodils* (and the soppy rest of it) 5 mules (croaky hard-man) 6 Pagliacci (weepy) 7 Telex*# (start the week)

Sorry, I was scrolling up and down, and flicking between this and the answers. Tom got number eight as well, so that's the full set. Number three I'd just discount - it is Rock a Hula Baby, that I've never heard of. Missi? Oh, and number 11, which is The Ballad of John and Yoko. There's an eighties one I'll do tomorrow for Bert and the kids.

Rock a Hula baby is Presley, a soundtrack song from Blue Hawaii.
