Hotels for ABCTales Event

I noticed on the main Event thread that several people are looking for reasonably priced hotels in London for next week. A friend of mine runs a hotel booking agency, and can often get better deals than advertised publicly, even on the web.

I have spoken to him, so try emailing guy@great4hotels.com and mention ABC, and he'll see what he can do. If you want to stay in the same hotel as other Talers, you'll have to work it out between you, and then one person contact him, as he won't have time to put a group booking together.

See you next week,

Hox

Well, I was interested, but am now going to visit my son on Friday so I can't come down to London this week. Have a great time you folk.

Cheers for the advice, Hox! I briefly searched for accommodation last week but soon gave up due to the bewildering number of sites offering me hotels at far too much money (hence my post on that thread) and in inappropriate locations. Arriving home last night, joyful at having salvaged a draw from what looked like sure defeat in the game I rarely mention here for fear of ridicule, I was soon brought down to non-joyous level by mrs S asking me if I had managed to find somewhere to stay. I emailed Guy. He replied first thing this morning although, having been out all day and my kids hogging the internet all night, I didn't get to see it until an hour ago. He gave me this choice: Piccadilly Circus 2 star £45 per room per night including breakfast (bathroom is shared) Oxford Circus 2 star £69 per room per night including breakfast Barbican 4 star £69 per room per night including breakfast The Strand 3 star £85 per room per night including breakfast Covent Garden 4 star £130 per room per night including breakfast Well, bathroom sharing is right out as is 2* accom when 4* is available at the same price. I emailed straight back (23.48) and had a reply confirming my booking 25 mins later - not bad considering the time of night. So, I'm booked into the Barbican Thistle, an hotel I would not have normally considered (IBIS Bradford is my usual standard - don't ask!) Thanks Hox and thanks Guy.

I'm glad it helped Storms. I work away from home quite a lot, and like taking short breaks with the low cost airlines. I've given up searching for hotels online, I just email Guy and he always comes back with a great deal. See you on Thursday. [%sig%]
