I liked the imagery in this one - brief and vivid.
Found it really interesting.
Not sure about
'Is there a spicy pinch of suspicion in each bleat?
Or hate?'
Thoroughly enjoyed the second stanza, loved the stuttering sounding the same and the smiling cuts. The malaria to kids faces is brilliant and grotesque.
Don't understand
'Ferengi flower dollars and birr'
Me stupid?
Maybe.
Span
Big apologies for sending this back to the top, but I forgot to answer Span's query.
'Ferengi' is the Ethiopian word for 'foreigner', possibly from 'Frenchman' and possibly the inspiration behind the Star Trek villains.
'Birr' is the offical Ethiopian currency (although they tend to like dollars very much as well).
I should pluralise 'ferengi'. The sentence would then be like, "Foreign white men flower dollars and cents," which I hope makes more sense.
