A glimpse of the future?
Take a look at this:
http://books.guardian.co.uk/news/articles/0,,1697405,00.html
It tells of a book in Italy that has been published for free on the Internet and is getting thousands and thousands of young readers. The content is interesting in that that's what has sparked their imagination - but it's the method of delivery that should excite us all.
Thanks to John Hampson at the Arts Council for flagging this up to me.
A lot of content is freely availlable on the internet these day (for instance, the guardian). This isn't the first novel I've seen, but it is the first popular one. What would be interesting is how they promoted it and are they being paid for it, i.e. is it economically viable to give it away.
