Beyond betrayal, beyond belief

Just wanted to draw your attention to a new writer who has astounded me with frightening insight to the mother/child bond, or lack of it in this case, and how it can impact on later life without realising it. Addicts and alcoholics in recovery usually concentrate on their drug of choice, which is only a symptom, and ignore the cause of their ailment, which is usually traceable back to childhood and its unresolved trauma and completely unrelated to drugs. The term 'dry drunk' is given to an alcoholic who is still acting out in uncontrollable/unhappy/unrewarding ways, even when he hasn't had a drink for decades. This piece is equally rewarding for those who didn't use drink/drugs to block the pain of remembering and found ways to cope, however unhappily, with childhood trauma, imagining that going through life with terrifying thoughts of impending doom is the only way to survive.

Here it is, a cracking opening piece.
