The Wheatsheaf 26th March - it was wonderful

What a terrific evening! A great atmosphere and very well organised by Luke, much thanks and praise  are due to his relaxed and yet very effective event management skills and style of getting things done. Everyone who read surpassed any advance expectations I had. This includes the three writers who I had not found my way to reading before; Akimba, Rob Newlyn and the young man who read after me (Aidan?) I had no idea what to expect from them and they were all very good.

The advantage of having 10 good readers is that there is piles of variety, we never know what kind of firework will soar skywards and dazzle us next.

I shall not take part in June, not sure what I am up to then and it's good to give likely new readers their chance to shine in a friendly setting. Maybe if there is another event in December or thereabouts.

It was great meeting all the particpants and listeners. All the best    heart                     Elsie

Elsie,

You're making me jealous.  I would love to come to a London Event but it is just a bit too far at the moment.

However, I read somewhere that Tony was not able to be there due to ill health I do hope he is feeling better now and I would be grateful if Luke would pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Well done to all the readers

Moya.

smileyI am like you Moya, Can not get to London with ease, but would love, the meetings sound fun, enjoyable and different. And it would be nice to meet who we chat to or writers we read work of.

Glad you had a good time Elsie, and all. It sounds like Luke did a great job!!!! I hope Tony is ok, if he is unwell and I to, want to wish him well.

Take care

I too am thinking of Tony Cook, Prettyrose. And thinking of you too, Moya. I am lucky that I was able to get to both this meet and the recent one in York. For me it brings the Abc experience to life hearing people read. Passages of writing which slip past me almost unnoticed can now have far greater impact when read well by the author in the way they hear it themself. I also find it reassuring to know that Abc-ers are flesh and blood humans with bodies and voices, it makes being part of an online writing community feel less strange.        Elsie

My thanks for your thoughts and I was indeed very sorry not to make the London get-together.

I am still not too well - but I trust I getting better slowly! It's just a nasty virus that turned into a chest infection. I've cleared the chest but I still get lots of headaches and I'm just ridiculously tired all the time. Ho Hum. I guess time and rest and will solve it all!

Don't want to be morbid Tony, but you'll sell more book if you die.  Think Elvis. Or Kate Bush.

CM you have a somewhat idiosyncratic way of understanding the news. Kate Bush said she was 'completely overwhelmed' by the ticket sales to her concerts. I do not think this means....smiley

believe me elsie, Kate Bush (and I mean the real KB) has been away for a few years. If you untangle all that false hair and shave it off, her forehead is stamped with Made in Japan.

Why should I believe a footie fan who supports Scotland not England?smiley
