Story, Poem and Inspiration Point of the Week

A wonderful poem with great depths gets my pick of the week today. It's from Silver Spun Sand and I've no idea how she manages to keep on producing such high quality pieces day after day. An inspiration to us all.

Terrence Oblong's 'The Death of Andrew McGinty' is my Story of the Week. Slightly surreal and very funny as always, this has serious undertones as well. Please read both if you haven't already.

The Inspiration Point for this week is a challenge - write something without using either 'I' or 'me'. Good luck!

Don't forget to pop in on Sunday evening to find out what our guest editor has chosen for the Picks of the Month - and next week will see a shiny brand new topic for our wildly popular Poetry Monthly so make sure you look out for that too!

I'm a bit puzzled, Insert, re the IP. Are you meaning something subjective, but without the personal pronouns, otherwise, say, most of nature poetry etc wouldn't have them in? Am I just being thick? Rhiannon

ha - no you're not being thick! If anyone is, it's me as it didn't occur to me that using neither I nor me would be that much of a challenge for someone who writes nature poetry. Perhaps your suggestion is a good one, and we should add to the ip that you should write something subjective.

I seem to have got the wrong end of the stick. I ignored any word which contained those pronouns, i.e. meaning, name, time, etc.
Was I wrong? Please set my mind at rest.
Any other interpretation seemed too easy.

oh dear - well I seemed to have royally ballsed up this week's Inspiration Point. That's a very clever and intricate interpretation Luigi - kudos to you for thinking it up!

I am sorry for my paltry effort - will up my game next time it's my turn - promise! And if anyone would like to suggest an IP in future - either to me or Tony, do please email us to let us know!
