ABCtales.com/Birmingham Half Marathon

In 2012 I won the Abc Poetry Competition with my poem "The Ghost of Milton Freidman Talks Disaster Capitalism in a Burning Hackney Diner" and used the cash prize to buy a rather fetching pair of Asics running shoes. Since then I've taken part in numerous half marathon events and raised money for a variety of charities in Worcestershire including a daycenter for the homeless, a hospice, a special needs centre, as well as buying much needed art equipment for the local NHS children's ward.

Well, the fancy Asics are now coming to the end of their days. My toes are beginning to poke through the black mesh and the heels are beginning to collapse. But they're terrific to run in - so comfortable and well moulded to my feet - that I'm loathe to let them them go.

This coming Sunday, October 16th, I'll be running the Birmingham Half Marathon. And, with Tony's announcement regarding this site playing on my mind, I'd like to ask anyone who wishes to sponsor me to send a donation to Abc.

My running number is 11322. Don't expect a quick finish! Not as fleet footed as I once was...in fact the elite runners are usually entering the home straight as I huff & puff along Pershore Road! The Birmingham Half is a great day out, though, for runners & spectators alike and if a few people show support for this site by way of a cash donation then so much the better.

Many thanks.

What a brilliant (and lovely) idea! Do we need a link to sponsor you?

Thanks Insert. Just use the PayPal link at the bottom of the Abc home page to donate.

How wonderful!
